What era of gaming did you grow up in?
What era of gaming did you grow up in?
What era did you come from? Also what game or games absolutely hooked you to gaming? My era was the NES and when I put Mega Man 2 into the slot and played it, lets just say it was all over for me. Super Mario 3 was also a very big reason why I still love videogames pure, platforming perfection. I'm still looking for a game with that freshness and innovation that SMB3 provided and I believe it doesn't exist.

I personally didn't have any consoles, it was my brothers and sisters because I was the "baby". However, I grew up in the SNES era but I don't remember really playing on that, but we had one. Instead we played on the Genesis, NES, Master System, 5200, and 2600. The first system I ever owned was a hand-me-down original gameboy. The game that hooked me was Super Mario Land. That was the first game I owned.
The weird thing is that was the first game I owned, it was critisised as being easy and short, but I couldn't beat it until October 4th, 2008.

NES. The Legend of Zelda and Mega Man 2 were fantastic, and I logged a lot into TMNT 2 The Arcade Game (or TMHT for you guys in the UK).

It depends on what you consider "growing up" to mean.
Up until middle school I played my Atari 2600 playing Kung-Fu Master for hours each day.
After that it was the NES in all through middle school.
In high school and the Genesis and the SNES my senior year.
During college I played the SEGA CD and the Lunar Series and a Saturn right before getting FF7 and a PS1.
I was a master at the few games I had for the 2600 and played many games and spent many hours on the NES. But played the most hours per game on the SNES and SegaCD RPGs.
So what era did I grow up in, I don't know?

I grew up with a Mega Drive, playing mostly Mortal Kombat on it. Aladdin and Taz-Mania had a sure spot too. But it was Mega Man X, which I saw on one of my friends' Super NES, that addicted me to platforming forever.

Tiny bit of 2600 but it was the NES that completely hooked me after seeing Zelda, Mario, and Megaman.

I started out playing arcade games at the local pizza parlor like Pac Man, Centipede, and Galaxian... that would be late 70's, early 80's? After that the Apple II, Commodore 64, Atari 2600, Colecovision, and Intellivision really cemented my love for videogames.

How did you end up on a retro site might i ask? Someone of your generation i thought wouldn't have known about how awesome games were in the snes/genesis ans saturn/ps1 era.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:Playstation/Dreamcast era. And im 15 so I guess you could say I grew up PS2-next gen.
