This is sort of a unique answer, because Earthbound 64 was in development for Nintendo 64, canceled, and then ported to GBA, ultimately being released in 2006. It was a phenomenal game that, imo, lived up to the original.
However, it still pains me that we never saw a Nintendo 64 version of it. It was so unique seeing Mario (Mario 64) and Zelda (Ocarina of Time) in 3D for the first time. Both of those games are amazing. I think Earthbound 64 would've followed suit and been an incredible experience in 3D as well.
Again, it's weird to complain, because the GBA version was awesome... I just think a 3D, N64 version would've had an added touch of charm on top of it.
Forgot about that one. EarthBound is one of my favorite games. Thankfully EarthBound 64 "became" Mother 3. Had the series simply ended I would have been devastated.
Did you know a lot of Resident Evil 1.5 has leaked and is playable thesedays? I still need to check it out. I'd love to see more of that early RE4 as well. Even weirder is how Devil May Cry was supposedly the beginning template for it and thankfully, that became something else entirely.
That revision of Biohazard 4 was going to feature supernatural enemies, hallucinations, dialogue trees, a shaking camera, and a few other techniques. The over-the shoulder camera and tactical laser were already implemented, but the rest of the ideas were deemed too expensive and couldn't be put in at the time, causing this version to be scrapped.
It's only one of several different versions of Biohazard 4, though this one got further along than some of the others, appearing at E3 2003. The first idea for RE4 was actually spun off to become the Devil May Cry series, while certain aspects of other RE4 versions were later implemented in the series.
Gahhh, I love this thread, because I LOVE beta game footage. I've really only looked at N64 stuff until now, but I didn't know so much other cool games had such detailed beta content. It's just so neat seeing what could've been, had circumstances been slightly different.
Those RE4 videos, for example, actually seem like a much more logical step forward for the series from RE3 compared to the RE4 we eventually got. Not saying that the one we got is worse for it, but it's just a neat thing you can see this stuff.

I know it won't happen, but I used to dream a time would come where enough people would care about N64 stuff to where someone would take some of the unfinished games, in particular Robotech, and find a way to in some form complete it. Even if it's not the intended game persay, but as a badass hack that works start to end with existing assets. That rough early beta that is there has solid bones and works, but it glitches and many missions are done as aren't done. It would be awesome if someone could hack the hell out of it and create any visuals or basic audio(ripped from the TV show) as needed to slap something together that would be playable. I know it's like a 1% chance of happening thing but it would be good, but I think not just the lack of interest in N64 in general but also the slow development of good solid working pirate carts like we have with NES/SNES and anything Gameboy have also doesn't help either. There are a few pirates so far, but the price of them even direct out of asia aren't very welcoming when you see like $70 for a booleg new parts game.
That's a playthrough of the unreleased Game Boy Color version of Resident Evil. It's basically a direct port of the first game and was nearly finished when Capcom decided to not pursue it. The ROM ended up dumped, so you can find it floating around the web. I believe there are two versions at differing levels of completion, so if you track it down, be aware.
Oh, the Jill Sandwich line was cut, unfortunately.
