I haven't played them yet, but I've been looking at them, too, now that I have a Retron 5 and can use the translation patches.prfsnl_gmr wrote:I am curious...Have any of you played through the original 8-bit Digital Devil Saga Megami Tensei games? If so, how are they? I have the 16-bit remakes (Kyuyaku Megami Tensei), and I am considering giving them a shot just so that I can say that I am more hardcore than most people who like SMT games.(Also, they look pretty cool.)

Xseed is also releasing a physical port of Corpse Party some time this summer. The "Back to School Edition" physical release is US$49.99 and there'll be an eshop version for $29.99. Another version will also be available for Steam, GOG.com, and the Humble Store (though I think it's a slightly different port.)

I saw that on NintendoLife yesterday. I'm gonna keep an eye on that and preorder the Back to School edition as soon as I can.Michi wrote:Xseed is also releasing a physical port of Corpse Party some time this summer. Re: Nintendo 3DS
Finally got a 3DS cuz Google Now Cards of all things turned me on to a sale at Best Buy (well, BB on eBay)... New 3DS XL in black for $175. maybe not a screaming deal, but I had been wanting it for a while now.
Immediately CFW'd that bee-otch. Took a couple hours, mostly because there was a lot of backing up and copying the backup to your computer -- which is smart enough, because that way there's almost no way of bricking it... but it takes a while. But it's not like it was a couple hours where I had to pay attention, it was more "Start this... walk away, come back in a while, done".
I was almost sad though, it shipped with FW 9.9 on it so I could Browserhax to get Menuhax... I own Cubic Ninja! I wanted to use Ninjhax!... but I suppose Browser/Menu is an easier way so I might as well use that.

Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!

I'm pretty certain it's not part of it, but it is a SMT game in disguise. There was the 8bit colorized release of the Last Bible in the US GBC (black cart) release of Revelations the Demon Slayer. That was my first SMT experience, and nearly my last given the later stuff didn't come to systems I had up until I think the DS or 3DS. I had SMT4 but I got lost in it and eventually just sold it, I know that sounds bad. The old game though I finished that one, and it's a lot of fun with the human/monster mix party and having to combine monsters to better ones, capturing them all the time around or in fights.prfsnl_gmr wrote: I am curious...Have any of you played through the original 8-bit Digital Devil Saga Megami Tensei games? Same problem I have with the Dragon Quest: Monsters games. Combining monsters into new ones just sucks, especially considering that both parents are gone for good, so if thye have a dud-babby, then you're stuck with duddy or you gotta farm up a whole new guy :/Tanooki wrote:I'm pretty certain it's not part of it, but it is a SMT game in disguise. The 2DS is getting a price drop to $79.99 bundled with Mario Kart 7:

I'm really ignorant to handheld gaming and Nintendo's confusing antics don't help... but how does the 2DS compare to a 3DS? I've been wanting to get an XL because of the bigger size eventually. The article reads that a 2DS plays all 3DS titles, but I don't know what else it can offer and do, or if some games don't work well on it. etc, clueless. But that price seems nice?

Re: Nintendo 3DS
It's basically the same hardware as the regular 3DS (not the New 3DS) but with no 3D capabilities and no folding design.Xeogred wrote:The 2DS is getting a price drop to $79.99 bundled with Mario Kart 7:

Personally, I think you should just shell out the money for a New 3DS XL. The regular 3DS/2DS can't play Xenoblade X, SNES VC games, or take advantage of the boosted hardware power (Hyrule Warriors Legends plays like horse shit on a regular 3DS but really smoothly on the New 3DS, for example).
