Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I have a bunch of games on my Origin account and only paid for a couple of them. Origin's always giving out good games for free. I don't see the problem.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
The problem is their DRM spyware. The free games are a bribe, they're not just really nice people.noiseredux wrote:I have a bunch of games on my Origin account and only paid for a couple of them. Origin's always giving out good games for free. I don't see the problem.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
One thing that bugs the shit out of me as far as origin goes is their usage of webpages to launch certain games. Honestly as if launching through Origin isn't bad enough let's force people to use a janky website that requires a plug in update every other time you access it in order to launch even single player campaigns.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I mainly just don't like splitting games between different clients. No real choice now for Bioware stuff, but that's about the only reason I've got Origin on my system. If I'm not actively playing one of those I don't run it.

this I understand, and agree with totally.isiolia wrote:I mainly just don't like splitting games between different clients. No real choice now for Bioware stuff, but that's about the only reason I've got Origin on my system. If I'm not actively playing one of those I don't run it.
I basically always buy stuff on Steam first unless there's some compelling reason otherwise. Obviously my hands are tied w/ Blizzard stuff. But yeah, everything I own on Origin is because it was free, dirt-cheap or an exclusive. Same with uPlay and so on. Ideally, I'd rather it all just be one client.

Read the EULA instead of just clicking on "I Agree."noiseredux wrote:?Ziggy587 wrote:The problem is their DRM spyware.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Sure, but is it actually spyware, or is it another case of spelling out what the software is doing provoking a knee-jerk reaction? That seems to be common when people read those.Ziggy587 wrote: Read the EULA instead of just clicking on "I Agree."
I remember there being an uproar over it a while ago, but a lot of it seemed more fueled by an inherent dislike of EA and/or Origin simply on the basis of not putting new stuff on Steam.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
besides, it was too long. I didn't read.
This just gave me flashbacks to that time when JT wouldn't agree to Steam's new TOS because it took away his option to participate in a class-action suit. You guys remember that thread?
