So they fouled up the US release and the JP and or EU release plays fair?

I thought the game seemed a bit sketchy on an atgames thing I have for Genesis. I'd like to get it on Gamegear but if they' screwed with the settings I'll import it.

PAL version is the same as the US one. They made a few tweaks to boss patterns and doubled the HP of a few of them too. Made some of their hitboxes smaller too.

Some of the later ones are a bit nuts, which is a shame as the game is so inventive and fun otherwise, and it stops you being able to enjoy it.

They also messed around with the number of continues. You get none to start in the US version, you get two in the Japanese. The game definitely goes from "tough but fair" to "this is just stupid".

Plus they made it harder to get continues too. You have to grab more of the parts that fly out of bosses to earn one, making it go from fairly simple to get a continue to pretty damn challenging.

Interesting I didn't know any of this. Maybe I won't feel bad if I don't ever beat it now though. In fact it sounds like I definitely won't hehe. I was glad to get it in the collection though.

Maybe I should take it on. I'm not exactly a stranger to tough-as-nails platformers these days... I beat it with save states a few years back to prep for a GameSpite Journal piece on it.

I think I got as far as the final boss of stage 6. There are 9 worlds.

It was a shmup boss that started as a giant babys head but aged as you shot it.

I can believe it. It's the last third of the game that gets so unfair.

Well thanks for clearing it up I'll have to move dynamite headdy to my import list of games I'd like to snap up. I recently noticed there was a nice dodgeball game and zenki too I added to it. The only inbound one currently is the EU release of Wonderboy 3 Dragon's Trap as that game is awesome and made me hesitate awhile on pitching my 2nd SMS.

This is currently what I have coming in and under consideration over time, don't want to over do it too much too fast or get burn out.

If there's an import I'm missing or a US game worthwhile not on there I'd consider it, and no I don't like Gunstar Heroes so that's purposely not on there.

How much did that run you, if you don't mind me asking?

EDIT: Oh, that was the GG version, wasn't it? Just looked at your spreadsheet. How does that stack up to the SMS version?
