I don't want someone bringing me down. And action packed is a bad thing; the first level was action packed and that was terrible.

RE5 is probably the most action focused out of the 7 main games in the series. If I remember correctly there is plenty of ammo around to clear most areas and it never really felt scary or tense for me, but that might have been because of having a partner.

Probably won't be your cup of tea if your not liking it so far.

Just got to 3-3, and yeah, the game is not what I want. But I shall power through.

RE5 is a total Rambo action fest. It stays that way. I only enjoyed it because I played it co-op, not something I'd bother with single player personally.

RE6 is still pretty action oriented, but it does have better pacing and bothers to try to be suspenseful once in a while. However the game is freaking huge. It has four campaigns and each one could be its own game. That could be a good thing if you enjoy it though.

Resident Evil Revelations however, was a true return to form IMO. I really, really enjoyed it on 3DS. And I bet the other ported versions of it are just fine. I'm pretty sure you would enjoy it Popo, as it felt much more in alignment with the classic RE games versus say RE5 and RE6.

In the RE5 finale you are literally punching probably 2+ ton boulders around with your fists as silly as that sounds. The game is a completely ridiculous power ride  .

So, I like RE4 a lot, but damn those QTEs! I would like the game a lot more without them!

I wont go on in detail about how annoying I find them, as it seems many people agree. I endured them when I played the game on the Wii. But some of them are broken in the HD PC version! The two that I've come across are when Leon has to pull himself up (or fall to his death) after the mine cart and giant robot Salazar parts. It seems that no matter how fast you mash the key, he always falls.

I found a Steam thread that a lot of other people have this problem as well. One solution that apparently works is to change the FPS from locked 60 to locked 30. But you can't do that in game, only at the main menu. So you'd have to exit your game and then replay from your last save point. Luckily, another trick is to start mashing the button BEFORE the button prompt appears on screen. This has worked for me both times, but only after dying a cheap death a number of times.

QTE really cheapen RE4.

QTEs in general kind of suck. I like cut scenes that engage you but when the button mashing required is ridiculous or super time sensitive it just ends up sucking.

I would have minded less if the game featured a way to automatically skip them after you beat it the first time. I would have liked to actually watch the Leon/Krueger knife fight. I've never actually gotten to pay attention to it since I was busy pushing buttons.

So I finished RE5 over the weekend. I actually found I started to enjoy parts of it around Chapter 5, as that's where the game had a major story payoff with the rest of the RE series that RE4 was missing. RE4 still gets points for the plot being "The President's daughter has been kidnapped by Spaniards. Are you a bad enough dude to save her?" But Chapter 5 in RE5 justifies the existence of the game when the preceding sections were "you must kill all the zombie men who aren't actually zombies to stop more zombies".

As perfect as RE4 is there is no denying that it's pretty much purely a spinoff and not really that relevant plot wise in the grand scheme of things. But you're saving the president's daughter, so that's kind of hilarious.

Honestly my prediction is Popo hating Revelations. If he plays it directly after RE4-RE6, the awful combat/controls stick out like a sore thumb, and the plot/characters are the absolute worst in the series. I give it no leeway for originally being a handheld game. No excuses here, I hate it and it was really painful to get through. Oh did you want swimming sections in RE? Have fun with those too.
