The used games have to come from somewhere. If used demand severely outstrips demand for new people will simply have to buy new because there won't be any used. That's a kind of equilibrium. And while it's true that a game can be traded in as used multiple times, new games do take some time to get through and it can be a pricey rental if you buy and flip within too narrow a period. So during peak demand times people will still end up buying lots of new games.
