Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Alright I think I'm going to start collecting japanese N64 carts. They are so cheap and I didn't realize that to play them all you need to do is change out the back. Pretty neat to be able to play Pokemon Stadium for only like $5 shipped lol. And of course it's the Japanese so you the cart will be immaculate when you buy it used.

Keep an eye out for Custom Robo V2 and the AKI wrestling games. Or if you like Virtual On and Armor Core go for Last Legion UXSoldier Blue wrote:Alright I think I'm going to start collecting japanese N64 carts. My copy of SSB is Japanese because Link is my favorite and nerfed him slightly for the Western release. There were a number of other minor tweaks, but I don't care about those. Just my boy Link.Soldier Blue wrote:Alright I think I'm going to start collecting japanese N64 carts. FYI, the best solution is to remove the blocks in the cart slot that prevent the NTSC-J carts from being inserted. It's the same situation as the SNES. The easiest solution is to just use a GameShark or similar, but either way is better than swapping out the backs IMO.Soldier Blue wrote:Alright I think I'm going to start collecting japanese N64 carts. I was obsessed with the rumble version of Super Mario 64 (which had other minor changes), which was a Japanese only release. I think Wave Race 64 was the only other Nintendo game that they decided to re-release with added Rumble Pak support, and it was also Japan only.

Yeah I think It'd be interesting to see all the minor differences in the games compared to the NTSC releases.

Scratch that, the makers of the remake have translated the game I mentioned! It's titled "The Abbbey of Crime" and can be downloaded alongside the Spanish version.
I'm really glad!

I also, as of a few days ago, decided to start looking into Japanese exclusive N64 games! I had a thing sell on ebay for a little more than I thought it would, so I picked up Fuurai no Shiren 2 and Goemon Mononoke Soguroku. Very excited for both to get here, mostly because apparently Goemon MS is some sort of fusion of Monopoly and Yugioh, which I'm very stoked to try/stumble through to learn *u*Soldier Blue wrote:Alright I think I'm going to start collecting japanese N64 carts. Apparently the DSiWare store will be shutting down next year. You won't be able to add any funds to DSiWare from about September this year.
If, like me, you'd rather play DSiWare on a DSi instead of a 3DS, you'd best make any purchases for the service soon!

If you like fighting games, track down the little-known Flying Dragon sequel, SD Hiryu no Ken Densetsu. It's a super deformed Japan-only fighting game with an RPG-esque item system.PartridgeSenpai wrote:I also, as of a few days ago, decided to start looking into Japanese exclusive N64 games! You might also consider checking out the 2D fighter Rakuga Kids, which features children's drawings coming to life to fight each other, or the 2 Super Robot Wars games that came out for it: Super Robot Wars 64 and Super Robot Spirits. Spirits is a 3D fighting game with playable robots from Aura Battler Dunbine, Chōdenji Machine Voltes V, Dancouga – Super Beast Machine God, Invincible Steel Man Daitarn 3, Mobile Fighter G Gundam, and Combat Mecha Xabungle. Super Robot Wars 64 is a strategy RPG pulling from a dozen different mech-based anime properties and uses the Transfer Pak with the GBC game Super Robot Wars: Link Battler.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
So... for those of you who do like going for trophies/achievements/100% a game, how do you deal with games where this is not possible? I have some PS3 games I want to pick up, but I think it will drive me insane trying to get the trophies if I want them, especially if I get something like Assault on Dark Athena or Killzone 2...
