That doesn't necessarily mean that they were telling the truth.

It also does not mean put stock in an unsubstantiated rumor. The source for this article worldwide is from the Nekkei newspaper. If they were really stopping production, there would be more leaks.

Oh, I agree, and I don't think they're stopping production. I just don't think their denial is a strong indicator that the rumor is false. The lack of other leaks definitely is.

Nintendo didn't entirely deny it either. What I've seen that they said was that they weren't announcing stopping production, and that next quarter and on they planned to continue making them. That doesn't really rule out ceasing production Q4 or something.

Nikkei is a major source as well, with a larger circulation than the Wall Street Journal. I don't think it'd be far fetched if they had a network of contacts bigger than most.

That said, it is a rumor, but one that seems likely.


The NX controller thing, yeah, not the first time that design has shown up in leaks. Maybe the first actual clear photo of it, but that'd be it. I think last time it was shown running an Unreal engine demo?

No, I'm certainly intrigued if that's what it is.

I'm worried they're going too far from the norm again though which will cost them the big AAA titles everyone seems to care that they have. I have more then enough to play without that stuff.

I've always been a Nintendo fan, but I have my phases. I can acknowledge that the Wii is legit with tons of great games I need to dig up underneath the shovelware, but they did admittedly lose me a bit here... but it probably didn't help that I didn't like the GC much at all. I can confidently say that's a Nintendo system I didn't care for, outside of maybe a couple good titles and Metroid Prime. Maybe I'm a rare case here, but it really felt like the Wii U brought me back to Nintendo. They play up the nostalgia a lot, but I love that, and I've had a blast with mine and can't wait to pickup more titles on my radar for it. The Pro controller is one of the best in existence, period. And the more I think about it the more I think people who rag on Nintendo for their lack of games are bananas, because they pump out 20x more quality first party titles than Sony or MS could ever wish for, though the crutch (depending on how you look at it) is that they have split development with the 3DS and handhelds too. Interesting to imagine how monstrous their system libraries could potentially be if the handheld focus wasn't there, though many would hate that...

... Long story short and all that aside, if that touch screen controller is legit, I might hate Nintendo. And that will be sad. Words cannot describe how much touch screen controls suck.

Let's also keep in mind that these are all just rumors and concept leaks; Sony actually revealed this monstrosity officially (though, admittedly, I always liked the look), and it still never saw the light of day commercially.



Even if these are "legit" leaks, I haven't heard any fat ladies' singing.
