Any Commander Keen fans?

I remember playing the first game in 1990 at a family friend's house. I was stunned by the fact that a platformer existed on a computer! I have since downloaded the Complete Pack on Steam and am looking forward to diving into it. I now see that Keen Dreams is on there too so I'll have to snag that as well.

(btw any decent recommendations for DOS games that are on Steam but NOT GOG.com?)

I haven't played the PC version, but I have the Gameboy Color game. It's an okay game, but I'm sure the PC original is leagues better.

The GBC Keen is actually a completely different game, not a port. I always see it at my local game store but haven't made the plunge to buy it. Reception is mixed.

Ohh, good to know. Yeah, it's not worth it unless you can find it for $3 or less. At that price, it's worth the lulz, but not more than that.

I'm certainly beating a dead horse here, but the quality of YouTube gaming videos has dropped considerably these last few years. Those users who became partnered soon discovered that the best way to make money is to focus on quantity over quality. As such, those who used to invest a great deal of time into comprehensive game reviews are now pumping out lazy ass letsplays, "look what I bought" nonsense, and "rants" about the state of modern gaming every other day or so. It's a shame.

Youtube has become a monster. There is a lot more garbage to dig through nowadays and everyday more of my favorites gets removed, but overall I don't think it's ever been a huge problem for me. Youtube is pretty much my TV nowadays and there are a few decent channels out there I follow and still discover along the way. But I certainly don't tread too far at times. I feel like it has never once been a place for legit video reviews of games anyways, so I guess that's never bothered me if that content has truly been lost or something. All I need to see is some game footage and can easily mute or skip around videos to get an idea of things if needed.

I went to a Montessori school for pre-k through 2nd (although 1st and 2nd grades were basically one year) and the grade school kids got to use shiny dos machines for their schoolin'. We used them for reading and early arithmetic exercises, and if we finished early, we were able to play Carmen Sandiego, Math Blaster, or Commander Keen (I'm pretty sure it was the fourth one). I used to get really excited about the prospect of playing Commander Keen, even though I was terrible at it. Sometimes, after school, a bunch of kids would gather around the terminal to watch someone who was 'really good'--I'm sure that idea was really relative, for a group of six to twelve-year-olds.

Really enjoying the 25th anniversary presentation of Sonic the Hedgehog. The current head of Sonic's Twitter and Facebook pages is hosting. Segata Sanshiro makes a cameo appearance too.

Iizuka-san and Naka-san both are on the panel, along with the voice actors for sonic and egg man.

Yup, I've tried to get it (and support it) on the TR calendar a few times already. I downloaded episode 1 off of Ziffnet on Prodigy (for $3.99!) and that was probably one of the first shareware games I ordered to get the other 2 episodes. Once I found that galactic alphabet in Episode 3....

I love the Keen shareware releases, not a big fan of Keen Dreams though. I don't really feel like they put as much love into that one especially since they just did it to make Softdisk happy.
