How does the Xbox version stack up?

Already wishlisted! The next time it goes on sale, I'm picking up Arx Fatalis. It looks like it would be right up my alley, considering how much I'm enjoying Ultima Underworld.

That said, I don't think Ultima Underworld 2 will be my next game. I may take a break and go try something different, just like I did after Shadowrun: Dragonfall. I have plans for something to play in April, but since I've got a few weeks, I might put up some stuff for the community to consider.

It's functionally there. But Xbox version has worse textures, lower resolution, and a crappier frame rate than the PC. If you have the option, the PC version is the superior experience.

Hey it's already waited 23 years for you to play it, what's a few more?

Good luck with level 8 Ack, I think I got stuck there. The platforming got insane and I think it was almost required to know some levitation spell or something.

Anyways I had a blast with UU1 myself and also hear the same thing about UU2, it's better and an improvement in terms of everything. Looking forward to it sometime.

Love how you can mark and write on the maps. Pretty pathetic that's not a standard, you know 20 some years later.

Were you playing with the sound setup that has a piano key everytime you step? That was how it was for me.

Tried playing Arx twice but it crashed a lot and then had some weird turbo framerate issue so I didn't play much.

Yep. Have they patched it or anything? I haven't tried it again since it was newly released over there. I'm actually not sure if I tried it on my newer rig, but both this and my old PC are Win7 so I don't know if it'll be any different.

In 2011 the GOG version was updated to version 1.21. I'm not sure if there's been any revisions since then. I've never had any problems running the game on PC personally.

Oh yeah. Every time I run, I think a Schubert concert is about to break out. Apparently it has to do with the sound being played as a MIDI and can be changed, but...meh, it's some quirky character. But the map writing...that idea was genius. Absolute genius.

I'm a little wary of the platforming, but I've got a magic ring that enhances all of my jumping, so I can wear or remove it to adjust my jumping distance as needed.

Is it Dark Souls III? Because if not, it should be Dark Souls III. I already know what you're playing in May.
