How about Tekkonkinkreet? Have you seen that one yet? It has a style unlike any other anime film I know. That's not to say it's exactly good or bad; it's the kind of movie you have to re-watch a few times to take in everything. I didn't like it at first, but it grew on me.

I've seen Tekkonkinkreet, please don't hate me.
I loved the animation, and the backgrounds in Tekkonkinkreet are phenomenally detailed.
I'm sure there's some films I haven't seen yet! Maybe we should focus more on 2010-2015, I didn't really keep up with anime films at all during that time.

Here are some of my favorite anime films from the past decade with links to ANN reviews:
Sky Crawlers was really good. It's slow, but brilliant, by Mamoru Oshii if you're familiar with his works.
Redline is my pick for the most "crowd pleasing" anime film from the past decade. It has intense action and some of the best 2D animation out there.
Sword of the Stranger reminds me of the kind of anime movie that would have been held up as an example of how amazing anime could be back in the 90s. Unfortunately it didn't get a lot of attention but it is a totally solid film.
Short Peace is an anthology film that's maybe a little inconsistent but is overall pretty great IMO.
There are also the Evangelion reboot films which IMO are solid (most people at least liked the first two). I've heard good things about the two recent Dragon Ball Z movies, Summer Wars, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, The Princess and the Pilot, 5 Centimeters Per Second, Welcome to the Space Show, and Asura but I haven't seen any of those so I can't honestly recommend them!

I have a question for all fellow anime nerds in this thread. What are the best anime films of the past ten years in your opinion? Say from 2005-2015, what're your picks?
Hm, I haven't seen everything out there, but just offhand...
I was pleasantly surprised by The Sky Crawlers - I think the general promotional material and CGI plane stuff I'd seen of it dampened my enthusiasm for watching it. When I actually did, I found it to be a more interesting story than I'd anticipated (I think because Oshii kinda put his own spin on the source material).
Wolf Children also stood out to me as something that could almost have been a Miyazaki film. Kind of a similar vibe to some of his child-centric/coming of age type movies.
Hosada's directorial work has been great in general - he also did The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Summer Wars, which would also belong on this list.
While they tend to be a bit different fair, I tend to like Makoto Shinkai's work, like 5cm Per Second and Garden of Words.
I've seen a few others that I liked elements of, but felt like they kinda fell apart by the end (King of Thorn for example).

Of those, I've only seen TGWLTT and 5cm. Good job! I have research to do.

Man, there's so much stuff I've never heard of in this thread. I'm still cranking out the classics. Up next for me: Samurai Champloo, El Hazard and Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood

Wolf Children; its a precious movie, do you know any other anime movie like that?, or any other recommendations?. Thanks. Greetings.

The things I had in mind were some of the more classic Ghibli movies - the setting is similar to My Neighbor Totoro for example. I think though, you have a shift in perspective from the child finding themselves in Kiki's Delivery Service or Whisper of the Heart to more of the mom's view. The Tale of the Princess Kaguya is also more from the parent's perspective though, so that as well.
Offhand, there are a couple short(er) series that might be similar. Usagi Drop is about a bachelor fostering a little girl, which brings in some of the parenting themes. On the flip side, there's The Eccentric Family, which has a more expanded animals-as-people type thing (so does Pom Poko, but stylistically it's not as close).
Other random recommendation might be Millennium Actress, since Paprika was mentioned, and I like the former the most of Satoshi Kon's work. It's just a little older, so it's beyond the cutoff mentioned.
