portable apps

anyone using portable apps? Firefox/opera/chrome portable on your thumb drive?

I've got vlc portable so that I can play .avi's on my mac. I'm going to try some others here in a minute. REALLY excited about it so far. It's great on my 8 gig cruzer that I swiped for $15 at Staples. It was cheaper than wal*mart...

Ive used Clamwin Portable, VLC Portable, and Open Office Portable in the past (jobs were everything was locked down and scanned on the pc), I still use clamwin when I go disinfect pcs - its a fantastic thing to be able to run Adaware, Clamwin, and Malware Bytes from a cd in safemode. I technically use Firefox Portable because I use Pandoras Jar, but thats neither here nor there...

But if I had a jumpdrive bigger than 256 megs I would be using more.

I'm using fire fox portable. Thank god it can get past the blocks and inability to right click that my school set up. My graphics class would be impossible without the ability to right click.

I have an older SanDisk Cruzer with U3, so I'm using the U3 packages instead of PortableApps for most things, but I understand they are very similar. I have Firefox, Open Office, and a few other apps I use at school from the U3 launcher.

Wait... Please explain. I am a teacher and I also hate the stupid filter on the net. I cant even research and show important sites to my students on the smartboard. Getting around the filter would be nice... so can you please explain how this works.

basically, google portable browsers or portable firefox and put the files on a flash drive. They only take 30MB or less, so even a super cheap thumb drive works. It lets you save all your preferences and stuff so your home and work don't have to be different. Plus, it's since it's set up differently than what the computer already has, it can get around some stupid settings that are already there.
