Gametrailers closing and laid off everyone
Re: Gametrailers closing and laid off everyone
I'm just sad that Game Sack is going on hiatus for a while. I understand, since it's not like the guys are rolling in money, but I really enjoyed their shows.

Of the following 6 Kotaku headlines, only 1 is fake:
1. The Time Woody Reached in Buzz Lightyear's Crotch
2. The Gay Joke In Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Is Harmless. Or Is It?
3. Why Were There No Women In The Opening Scene of Saving Private Ryan?
4. Sadly, Geralt Doesn't Have a Penis
5. Why Were There No Women Presenters At The PlayStation 4 Event?
6. 'The Big Erect One Looks Weird': Adding Dicks To Fallout 4

Re: Gametrailers closing and laid off everyone
I had to register, just because this topic is so refreshing. Hello, all.
I still have shame from visiting Kotaku 3 or 4 years ago. All I wanted was game news, and it was a huge hassle finding the useful articles.
I liked going to GT back in the PS2 days, but the video reviews that came later on really killed it for me. All they did was give away the most memorable parts of a game. It was more like a sales pitch than an honest review.
These days, I go to allgamesbeta.com, which is nothing but press releases.

I have been a frequent user at GT for over 10 years which made me really sad the other day when I found out that Defy Media shut down the site. Especially the recent years of content really got me hooked more than ever and I was following their stuff all the time. Let's hope that they manage to bring something new together.

I'll miss The Final Bosman and their Retrospectives.
Gaming websites really feel like they're going the way of the magazine. Well at least the "traditional" ones anyway. Blogpost style ones like Polygon and Kotaku seem to have their audience still and the weird personality driven but not quite YouTube affairs of GameSpot and Giant Bomb seem to be hanging on as well.

Older. Not wiser.
