Honestly most anime stuff just doesn't appeal to me. I just can't stand a lot of the tropes and cliches, and some of the artstyles just don't appeal to me. Stuff like Zeta Gundam looks great, while something like Gundam Seed is eyeball cancer. Speaking of which, I've been obsessed with that lately. It avoids a lot of the things I don't like about anime (it's not based on a manga so no filler, relatively light on the pervy stuff, avoids some of the cliched character types). So I guess every so often an I see an anime that appeals to me, but I don't give a crap about most of them.
As for gaming opinions, items off is the most fun way to play Smash Bros. Though I will admit, I do have myself a Pokeball battle occasionally.

Never read the manga, but the anime is banging.TSTR wrote:I really enjoyed the Parasyte manga; does the anime do it justice?Exhuminator wrote:Or Death Parade. Or the first season of Psycho-Pass. The best anime ever released came out in 1990 and is a 13-episode OVA.

Also, the best cartoon on Cartoon Network is Regular Show. It's also the only cartoon I can think of with a Sega Master System.

Yeah, sure have. It is a masterclass in playing the party tank.

Non Adult Swim? 'cause Rick and Morty is pretty great, and Venture Bros. and stuff as well. Plenty of meh stuff too that's just...I dunno, are you supposed to be high to watch/enjoy it? Tim and Eric stuff for example.Ack wrote: Also, the best cartoon on Cartoon Network is Regular Show. It's also the only cartoon I can think of with a Sega Master System.
Would be nice to see more western animation that's skewed towards an older audience, and isn't comedy/satire though. Seems like the only thing that regularly comes out are the direct to DVD cape comic adaptations. Not that it's bad, but other standout stuff like the Avatar series, Thundercats reboot, etc just don't have the same freedom that a lot of anime series do. Not like there's a lack of material to adapt.

Yeah, just CN stuff, not AS. Cartoon Network and Adult Swim are actually separate networks that share the same channel.isiolia wrote:Non Adult Swim? Glad to see I'm not along with Lodoss War. And yes that parasyte anime is amazingly good, though I have not either read the manga. Oddly I just don't see it pop up at the used shops around here, like ever, but I'm keeping an eye out for it (also Cyborg 009 and Skullman too with no hits.)

I saw something Western and decent last year. Well, it's comedy, but definitely meant for an older audience:isiolia wrote:Would be nice to see more western animation that's skewed towards an older audience, and isn't comedy/satire though.

Re: Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
I remember the local Blockbuster having Record of Lodoss War stuff that the bro and I rented back in the day. I really enjoyed that, actually.
I've actually been thinking about this a lot, versus other forms of media. Maybe it's just personal taste. But I find overall that gaming has a lot lower percentage of stuff I don't find awful as opposed to anime and cartoons. Maybe if I were in Japan in the NES era, I'd think differently, but I feel that gaming today has come a long, long way, even if there are less games that I outright love.
Anyway, I thought Adult Swim had some great stuff back in the day. I quite enjoyed Trigun, Full Metal Alchemist (when it wasn't dragging things out interminably!), Big O, and some others I can't remember right now. Oh, right, one I never really hear about, and I have no idea what folks think about it, but S-Cry-Ed was quite good, in my opinion.
EDIT: Oh, and as far as Western stuff goes, I wish someone would bring back Samurai Jack.
