Re: So the whole world is kind of falling apart...
Bernie isn't a Democrat. Technically he became a Democrat last year to run as one, but he's been an independent his whole career. That's one of the reasons I support him; he's always voted his conscience rather than what a party leader wants.

Conversely many people are supporting Trump because he is also a political outsider. It is a strange day for party politics.ElkinFencer10 wrote:Bernie isn't a Democrat. Seriously, if he gets the nomination, the DNC could nominate a baked potato and still probably win the election.ZeroAX wrote:So it seems Trump will get the republican nomination?

The man is going to hit the brakes and suddenly become a centrist once he gets nominated. He's machievellian, not dumb and while I doubt he'll get elected, he'll get much farther away than people give him credit for.

Yep. I am pretty sure that, if he receives the nomination, a lot of quiet Republicans (like, my parents) will either bolt to the centrist Democratic candidate or just not show up for the election.ElkinFencer10 wrote:Seriously, if he gets the nomination, the DNC could nominate a baked potato and still probably win the election.ZeroAX wrote:So it seems Trump will get the republican nomination?

I don't think anyone can stop Big Hillz. My wife and her colleagues (government employees) are already referring to her as their "future boss."

I agree. I'm still going to vote for Bernie in the primary, and I think he has a real chance to win, but if I were a betting man, I'd put money on Hillary in the primary and in the general. And I'm okay with that. I'm not her biggest fan (especially given her record with military votes and big business), but I think she would make an extremely competent leader, and I'd trust her way more than I would trust nearly any GOP candidate (I'd give Rubio or Bush a fair shot in terms of listening to their views and ideas, but I doubt either would be able to win my vote).BoneSnapDeez wrote:I don't think anyone can stop Big Hillz. Being surrounded by conservatives and being one myself, few are actually hoping for him to get anywhere. Many seem to be behind Cruz or Rubio, and would only default to Trump to stop Hillary. Hell, most people I know would rather have anyone running than Hillary.Erik_Twice wrote:The man is going to hit the brakes and suddenly become a centrist once he gets nominated. No offense, but I think that's part of what's wrong with American politics - so many of us vote AGAINST someone instead of voting FOR someone. If you really look at their service records and what they say - not just what your pundit of choice tells you that they say - can anyone really make the argument that Donald Trump is more qualified or fit to hold the office of President of the United States than Hillary Clinton? Like her or not, she's at least got the experience for it between serving as an attorney in the federal court system, serving as a member of the United States Senate, serving as Secretary of State, and seeing the inner workings of the White House as the First Lady for eight years. I don't know if she'd make a good president, a horrible president, or an okay president, but she's certainly got the resume for it; Trump does not. If anything, he's the least qualified GOP candidate IMO (tying with Ben Carson).Forlorn Drifter wrote:Being surrounded by conservatives and being one myself, few are actually hoping for him to get anywhere.
