What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

It seems buying games direct from Xseed's site has its benefits.

I ordered copies of Trails in the Sky and The Last Story last week. They arrived today, and included with the games were a two sided map/poster and a pin for Trails, as well as an art book and soundtrack cd for Last Story.

Very cool to get some nice bonuses like that. :D

Nephews had me sell all their PS3 and 360 (+1 XB) games in bundles or individually on ebay the last couple of weeks (they sold their 360 locally and I did the ps3 on ebay.) Most of it sold, PS3 for a good bit along with the bundles. One 360 game sold alone for $20 which is a decent deal -- LOTR Conquest.

A week later the guy last night writes me with a generic scoped in shot of a 360 screen claiming the disc won't read. He says he wants me to do something about it. When I sold the stuff I made it clear it was tested, bagged up (ready to seal) and was for a couple kids so they could afford a purchase they made. I get it, it could have maybe got scratched in transport, but wouldn't you show a pic of that?

I ask what he wants, he comes up with this precise total of $3.75 in return to make him happy. I let him know I'll ask them, I did, and we talked and they were like let him have it.

I know with almost total certainty this asswipe is stealing a few bucks off a pair of kids because he knows at that price they'd lose most their money having to pay to get it shipped back, then .30 posting fees again, then the fees for item + fvf on shipping to sell it yet again. All this over a $20 game. A real piece of shit stealing from kids. You'd think it would be an expensive bundle or the console bundle, but no, a cheap one.

If it were mine I'd call him on his shit but I don't have a 360 to test it and neither do they anymore. In all my years I've had someone try that once on me with a spotless Wii (Metroid Prime 3) game I sold some years back and I called the dudes bluff saying I did not post a high quality image of the disc surface with the ring codes and if it didn't match I'd be contacting ebay and paypal about fraud which ended it there without another word. I'd do something similar here, except in this case I have the image.

:D I got my PS3 to Xbox One adapter today.

 I tried to upgrade the firmware so it will work with my arcade stick. The upgrade caused the adapter to brick. The upgrade process is pretty cumbersome but I followed it to the letter.

I've sent an email to their support. I sure hope they are responsive.

 - so somehow I've pissed off the managers at my store again and they supposedly have video proof of me flipping again but the thing is I don't remember ever flipping in the past week besides trying to toss boxes out of the hole I was already buried in and asking one manager why he always treats me like a idiot(dude is supposedly a nice guy but to me he acts like a sarcastic asshole and no better term for it...). If I piss you off say something to my face and don't talk behind my freaking back! Bad enough I have aspergers and it doesn't let me handle overwhelming situations well and then you attempt to treat me like someone who should be able to handle them well and let certain things go(sorry but with this I can't be like every other "normal" person). If i could find a internship or something in computers that didn't require more knowledge than what I currently have I'd already be out of there..*sigh* work stress + car payment + school payment/class i need to pass this semester + trying to get in shape = one super stressed out 21 year old who tries to bottle up all the emotions

The risk of ebay and selling online. These sites, and paypal heavily lean in favor of the buyer, which makes sense, but it can easily lead to buyer fraud.

I sold an NES cart on Amazon that I tested before shipping. He says he cant get it to work, and I explain to him his system pins are probably dirty and how temperamental NES can be reading carts. I ended up just refunding him as shipping a $4 cart back to me was a waste.

That is the biggest problem I have had it as a seller. People don't realize that their system needs maintence/cleaning on occasion. Have had multiple people throw hissy fits on me then ask for full refunds. 90% of the time they have smudged the disc surface when getting it out or the cartridges pins got caked in grim after being jammed into a system that hadn't been cleaned in 10+ years  . Walking them through a simple cleaning resolves it usually since none of them want to be bothered with returning the product.

That being said arguing with a buyer is a big gamble on Ebay so you have to be smart about it just be civil in any conversations you have with them and if they threaten you report it. Never offer to give them something for free unless it's something insignificant that isn't worth fighting over and then be sure to block them afterwards since more often then not they will come back for more  .

Jmustang - Oh I know. That's why I was pissed about it. If it were mine I would have challenged the guy as I said I could but it wasn't my money to be playing with. The fact he knows he's stealing from kids as I said on the auction (as I did in the past for them once before some years ago) was for them is why I vented about it on here. Your logic was mine on the $4 deal. I tried to explain to them over text about it, then took it to a phone call and basically did the math on it. $20 for a game, already lost your fees on that and shipping, then lose more shipping, to then prove it works (as we know it does), to then lose again more fees. It's a write off.

Fragems - Got that right, I've had a few complain in the past, so then I started doing and noting on all sales of carts I have security bits, clean them inside and out, so it will work and if it doesn't they need to clean their system. That stopped it all but once or twice since so apparently some ebay people do read (or it's luck.) I never offered that dude anything, I put it in his hands in case he worded it well enough I could contact ebay over extortion.

Whole conversation here:
I tried to play the game and the game isn't working. I would like to have a partial refund please. - bwee5107

I take it you've tried cleaning it further as it was working prior to me taking it home to list. I'm curious as to how much you'd want back on it so I can ask my nephews their opinion about it as while I sold it, it's their game so I have to run it by them tomorrow as it's midnight now here.

Just $3.75, would do - bwee5107

(I then next day refunded him and wrote this and it has been quiet since. Hoping the thief doesn't give me a negative as I've never had one.) Well I got ahold of one of them on break, they're fine with the 3.75 return being done with it on that. Hopefully you can improve its reading ability perhaps with a better cleaning or a resurfacing at some shop locally which usually is free or just a couple bucks.

By the way here's his generic image he attached just for fun.

That's all there was to it. His once response was 7min after my message to him so he was waiting for it. Seriously though, if the game isn't working I'm not stupid, why ask for that small cash and not a return? Because it works.

The correct response would have been:

"Goddammit Loch Ness Monster!!"

(He usually asks for a little less than that, though; so, I can see why you might have been confused... )
