No wonder you only play short Atari games.

Even my RPGs are short. I've gotten my Ys completion to <3 hours.

Pbbth, world record is 16 seconds for Ys The Vanished Omen. Ys Eternal is 38 minutes.

I spent the rest of the time practicing music and/or exercising and/or reading and/or whatever.
In my late teens and early twenties, I used to be able to game for 10-12 hour long stretches at a time.
I can't handle more than a 3 hour stretch now. It's mostly because I start feeling like I'm being horribly irresponsible and surely there's something more adult-important I need to be doing with my day. That may not actually be true, but anxiety always 4 lyfe.

I could play the same game for 3 hours or more, though the next time I was able to I'm not sure I'd be as keen on it.
Some games the time allotted is deceiving though. I could play Fallout 4 for three hours and not feel like I really dug into it all that much. A three hour session with a sports game you enjoy playing seasons, etc. isn't incredibly long.

I used to be able to marathon 18 hours straight no problem, but now I have to take like a twenty minute break every hour or two.

About three hours is my limit before I have to get up and take a break. I might go back later, but I've never been able to marathon all day. I think the longest I've ever played a game solid was Dragon Warrior IV back in the day, putting in a solid four hours. I've certainly come close to that on occasion, but I have to really be in the right frame of mind, and have a ton of time to boot.
At some point, I'll try to get back to Dragon Age: Inquisition, but right now it's a little more investment than I want to make... but I've already got 65 hours in.

Having a baby definitely changed my gaming habits. I used to be able to do 12 hour stretches in my irresponsible youth, but now, my time is precious. I get maybe an hour in the evenings and 2 half hour stretches during nap time and that is if I have nothing else to do.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Longest I ever played a game was about 12 hours straight. I played through Half-Life Blue Shift and Opposing Force back to back taking my sweet time. So yeah, not really one game, but it was one gaming session. It's not that the games were even that great, I just had zero life going on back then. I was on unemployment, single, unsocial, and pretty depressed. That was a long time ago though, circa 2002, thankfully thing's have massively improved since then.
One positive about having less gaming time, is you cherish the gaming time you do have all the more, and make better decisions about what games are actually worth said limited time.

Now this is the truth. I only want to play the games that really interest me and engage me. I really get into the game, but I don't get to play as many.
