Yeah the post office is very funny about how boxes are placed sounds pretty stupid that they are blocking you if you are only a little ways off route though. Really it probably comes down to if they have to pay an extra $0.50 for that extra portion of a mile and how much time it will add to a route even if it's just 2-3 minutes.

One thing I recommend is be sure to have a very visible number on your house if you do end up having to put your box a ways down the road and a good doorbell. Two things which drive me crazy as a carrier is unmarked houses and people with no working doorbell lol. I hate not being able to deliver packages but if it doesn't fit in the box and I can't 100% verify which house it goes to I usually end up doing just that. Also if you get a crappy carrier there is the likelihood that he/she will just drop package attempt notices off in the box to save a few minutes if you suspect them of doing that bring it up with the post master our scanners have trackers so they should be able to cut that out if it occurs. Really unless the road is complete shit, there is no safe turn around, or it's way out of our way we are supposed to deliver there.

Most carriers and post masters are pretty nice if you meet with them in person though I'd recommend going to chat with the post master at the office if you have the opportunity. Also getting your neighbor involved would probably help since 2 boxes is much more enticing to them then 1.

I met with the carrier already and she escalated it to her supervisor (which may or may not be the postmaster - I dunno). Allegedly it was her supervisor that said she could not travel the entirety of the loop. Seriously though, the loop is probably less than half a mile long and she is already traveling about 1/3 of it and turning around. It doesn't make any sense why they won't extend the route because it would eliminate the turn around. It would probably add less than a minute of travel time.

I'm going to fill out PS Form 4027 and see if my neighbor will join in. If that fails, I'm going to see if I can put it in another spot on the route that makes more sense.

I think in most offices carriers are directly under the post masters although I'm not sure if it's different for larger city offices. Usually talking directly with the post master is the best way to go they get shit done  . Definitely go ahead and fill out the form to get the ball rolling though.

Really I see no reason why they shouldn't add you to the route.

So I got a chest x-ray today and will learn the results in a few days. Fingers crossed. My pneumonia is getting worse, regardless of my antibiotics use. Getting a big fever, coughing up more and more dark brown and bright green mucous. Fatigue is at an all time high. I just have to survive tomorrow night while my wife works and I hope my daughter gets some sleep.

Luckily, we have a nice support system of folks who are willing to come and help out if need be.

Yeah, we know. But good on you being able to admit it publicly.
