Mount & Blade has a level of sexism to it. Females are locked out of certain end game things like becoming a monarch as I recall, and you aren't taken very seriously by the various nobles (at least without working really hard at it).

I also totally nailed the adjutant from ME2. But then SPOILERS happened.

That's interesting given one of the key designers (İpek Yavuz) is female. Although perhaps from a historical perspective in which the game takes place, it makes sense thematically.

You actually can be a king as a female, but you are right, it is very difficult. You have to rise the ranks within another kingdom, gain favor among other nobles and when you decide to make a claim to your own right to rule, you will need that backing. It is incredibly tough, but not impossible. I have played a TON of Mount & Blade Warband, helping one nation rule the entire continent with a male character and currently have a female character trying to rule in her own kingdom. That is one where things are definitely different. Finding a suitor and working the ranks is a very different experience.

Chapter 4 in Xeno X(though I'm lost as to how to get into noctilum and trying not to get my tail whooped by those Tyrants or overleveled beasts).

Kinda been forgetting to take my gba upstairs so I think I'm still on lavender tower...not a fun place to be without the scope o_O

I'm grinding away in Lufia about 20 hours in looking for bits of some rare metal or something...the game has really turned into a grinding, boring chore in its last act.

Mass Effect

So it turns out after you leave Citadel you're given a choice of three planets to go to first. Feros, Noveria, and Therum. Being a fan of cold climates I chose Noveria first. I found going through it all was fairly challenging, but then I hit a brickwall with the Benezia boss fight. With no way to level up, I had to backtrack fucking miles to get back to the Normandy, so I could go to Feros or Therum tonight, and hopefully gain some levels and better gear. Then I've got to retread all that same distance again just to get back said boss fight. Ergh.

I looked up this planet on GameFAQs and it turns out people recommend to go to it LAST, after Therum and Feros. As a matter of fact, you miss key plot elements if you don't go to Therum first and pick up a new squadmate to take with you to Noveria. It seems to me that clearly BioWare wanted the player to go to Noveria last. But how in the hell would the player know that, since they are given the option to go there immediately? Yeah, this is what I get for not playing RPGs with walkthroughs in tow as most do.

Still love the game so far though, and I'm about 9 hours into it now. I see the HLTB time for this one is around 17 hours!? I guess most folks just ran through the main story as fast as possible disregarding all sidequests. I'm planning to squeeze a lot more hours out of it than that. Not saying I'll do every sidequest, but I'll certainly indulge in a few at least.

Is the DLC for Mass Effect worth buying?

(Even though I bought the trilogy pack for this series, EA of course didn't include the three games' DLC. Well, the DLC ending for ME3 is included for free, but other than that, nope.)

One last though, driving the Mako reminds me of driving around in Moon Patrol for the old 2600. Am I the only one who got this sense of nostalgia?

I've never played the ME1 DLC. ME2's DLC is worth playing. Two give you additional characters complete with recruitment and loyalty missions, one expands on a major piece of lore and sets up something for ME3, and one is a direct bridge to ME3. I haven't played any of ME3's DLC.

It could be worse. You could have spent several hours trying to defeat the Flamelurker before it forced you to give up and admit that maybe you just aren't as good as video game as you thought. That's what happened to me last night...(Seriously, f*ck that guy. I am going to figure out a way to take him down tonight.) At least my multiple runs through 2-2 caused me to farm enough spiderstone to upgrade my viscous compound short bow. Otherwise, I made no progress at all... :?
