I do remember hearing about the struggles during Thief's development and that it seems lucky they managed to even put out Thief 2. So basically... it's too bad Tim Stellmach hasn't headed more innovated projects (looks like he's been tied to Marvel stuff and other big established IP's since then).

Warren Spector I admire a lot, but he's a weird one. Deus Ex is about the only thing I love that he seemed to have a lot of input in. Harvey Smith is weird too and I think some other people had a big hand in Dishonored, but yeah that one is brilliant and easily carries that Looking Glass torch I'd say.

I haven't played Dishonored yet (I own it however), but I thought Arkane's other works Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic were brilliant underrated games. I'm glad they finally got some mainstream traction with Dishonored.

Yes, I'm already thinking of what classic games to put down for this. More importantly though, I want to go back to an important title in one of my favorite genres and see what it has to offer, control scheme be damned. Hey, if I can get through Catacomb 3-D, I can do this.
Please do play it, summer challenge or not.

I played it earlier this year and it quickly drove its way into my heart to number among my favorite games ever.

The game is thoughtful, versatile, atmospheric, fun as hell and so far ahead of its time.

I'd also really look forward to reading your posts about it as you play through it.

Yes I heard about this. They have the link cable feature enabled via wireless but they didn't say if it was local or internet. My guess is local. Call me spoiled but I find it difficult to go back to Pokemon games "pre-running" shoes so my remakes come in handy. Second generation Pokemon I can tolerate however because one of the massively archaic systems was overhauled, the inventory system.

Anyway, it's still great they are releasing this. If they get to Gen II I'll purchase those.

Let's hope they don't take a quick gander at ebay for a price point to charge of you get my drift.

You can really tell Thief II was rushed because the levels get less and less detailed and buggier as they go on. The last level only has the basic architecture and the same grey texture for everything and two or three levels are repeated.

Still a great game, though

I wasn't anywhere near as big a fan of Thief II as I was Thief. Actually I enjoyed Thief: Deadly Shadows more than Thief II.

I agree with you on underrated. Don't know if I'd go as far as brilliant. Still, some interesting ideas in them. Dark Messiah did some neat stuff with the Source engine.

Ugh... Guy in Columbus (driving distance, though a touch annoying) has a red tent for sale at $500... But no board. And it's a long drive, and I only have a car, and it's winter, and he says chassis might need to be rebuilt, and I'm moving... So I gotta pass. But man, I want one so badly.
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!

Is that newly ported to PC? I thought it was PS2 only.

It'd be nice to see it on GoG.
