What the hell, I haven't booted my 3DS XL up in months, might as well tonight then.
A Link Between Worlds is a good game. I'm not sure I would say better than ALttP, but it's a good game - way better than the DS Zelda games.

I didn't even like Minish Cap much, but I plan to get it sometime on the eShop for a replay. So yeah, handheld Zelda hasn't been good to me since the Capcom games and Link's Awakening, all of which were incredible, so I'm not sure what happened. Phantom Hourglass is the only main Zelda I've played that I didn't even want to finish. That dungeon backtracking and boring sailing was awful. Didn't even bother with Spiral whatever the sequel was.

I love all the 3D Zelda's though, which opinions seem very mixed on by the game. I'll admit Wind Waker is super weak sauce in my book, and no it's not because of the awesome art style. I'm a fan... but everything else, yikes. I struggled to finish the HD version.

I enjoyed that one personally, though I never finished it.

Thank you and I agree.

Well guys looks like I'm starting A Link Between Worlds tonight. I hope it lives up to the hype.

If you liked A Link to the Past or Link's Awakening, you will like it. There is definitely some nostalgia-bait in the game but I chose to enjoy that rather than gripe about it since ALttP is one of my favorite games from my childhood and one that I replay to completion every 1-2 years.

That said, it's definitely the best handheld Zelda since the Oracle games. I would put it above Minnish Cap personally, though that may just be personal preference.

I would be very interested to hear your impressions of the game.

I'm not sure that you'll like it since you clearly don't know how to appreciate great "Zelda" games (like Okami...which is the best).

It probably is weird that I still haven't played that one myself, with Link to the Past being my all time favorite game next to Super Metroid. And I really want to play those remakes of OoT and MM. But I guess this all just goes to show how little I care about handheld gaming haha... I think some people out there made some 3DS TV adapter things but they go for hundreds. I really wish Nintendo would give us official ways to play this stuff on a TV, there are dozens of 3DS games I'd love to play but my motivation for handhelds doesn't exist.

ALttP is my all time favorite Zelda, one of a handful of games I'd give a 10/10 to. But that doesn't mean I would give a rehash of it a free pass. That's not griping either, that's just expecting more from Nintendo than gussied up deja vu as the company is apt to indulge in. However I'm not saying A Link Between Worlds is such a rehash, as I've not played it yet to decide. I understand it is a sequel to ALttP so some degree of familiarity in aesthetics is understandable.

Okami is a 15 hour great game stretched into a meandering 45 hour good game instead. Couple that with some seriously overlong dialogue exposition and I wasn't overly bowled over. Maybe Okamiden got the pacing right though.

This might become possible with the NX devices, so here's hoping

I put close to 80 hours into Okami, and I loved every minute of it. (So...I obviously disagree. ) I see where you are coming from, however.

Also, the pacing in Okamiden is a bit better - and the game is a technical marvel - but it treads a lot of the same ground as Okami. (At times, it almost feels like a port.) I still really liked it, however, and it is easily the best "Zelda" game on the Nintendo DS.
