What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?

Wow, I clearly need to eat more bananas. They sound magical.

And an update on the kitties.

The one we thought was stress grooming himself bald seems to have actually found fleas somewhere, and has proven VERY allergic to them. So we're cleaning the house and have him on Frontline Plus. Suddenly he feels a lot better and isn't grooming chunks of fur off his body.

The other one, the older one, well... She's still getting supportive care at the emergency clinic. We'll bring her home tomorrow now that she's finally started to eat food again. Turns out her kidneys are going bad, but they're not as bad as the numbers initially suggested. She has pancreatitis, which in cats you basically treat with antibiotics (in case it's a bacterial infection) and supportive care. Pancreatitis is bad shit where cats are concerned. We're lucky to have caught it and she's lucky to, so far, be pulling through. I'm nervous about bringing her home because I'm worried this messy, dirty apartment will cause her to lapse into old habits that may hurt her recovery, but I need to get over that. As long as she's comfy, and not miserable, I'll do what I can to keep her patched up.

Hurray!

I guess this means you'll have to space out the food introductions now. Lesson learned, I guess. Glad the little one is doing better. Enjoy your 3-day coma

Plowing through it now - i'll snap a couple pics. There's a 2600, 5200, and 7800. The 5200 def has that one single plug for AV - it's wired underneath and tucks in. I can't believe as long as i've been into gaming - i've never had a 5200 cart. These are really quite slick - sturdy, nice size, and the labels on these hold up really well (or at least this batch was taken care of).

7800? Wow. You know that plays 2600 carts too?

I had 2600 and 5200 growing up. Loved the former, meh the latter.

Around noon, my former roommate texted me to let me know that another friend's mother passed away from cancer this morning.

Then a couple of hours ago I got a phone call that a different friend's grandfather passed away this evening.

Damn.

If you get into 5200 let me know, Mike. I'm happy with my flash cart as it plays 100% of games and I have 0 nostalgia for the system, but I have a number of boxed games I'd be happy to send your way for basically whatever.

Appreciate that, Dave. Once I get to testing out the system and whatnot i'll have a better idea of what i'll do w/it all.

:) only one kid trick or treating tried to be a turd by refusing a comic book pack (Had a serious snooty stink look on her face too). Significant improvement over the other year, where no one would take any even when handed straight to them.

It was nice to see other kids be very excited to get a surprise in addition to candy. Most were very appreciative, and that made the effort worth it.

Ooh also because no one has said it yet:

No, your 5200 controllers are not broken. Yes, they really are that shitty. No, no one knows why they made non self centering joysticks.

Yeah, the 5200 = best labels, worst games. Atari 2600 carts have those end labels that eventually start peeling. None of that on 5200.

Virtually every game on the 2600 and 5200 is better on the 2600 (not to mention the 8-bit computer versions).
