1. Star Control II (space sim) - I will likely go for this on GOG.
2. Pitfall (platformer) - Finally, I have an excuse to play through Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure on my SNES.
3. R-Type (shmup) - I'm not a big fan of the series, so it is likely I will sit this one out.
4. Metal Slug (run-n-gun) - I will play this. On my MVS. Bitches.
5. Pokemon red/blue/yellow (RPG) - I played yellow years ago, and while I see the appeal, I don't have much interest in this one. I will probably sit this out.
6. Oddworld (weird looking adventure thing?) - Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath is likely what I will play instead.
7. Alone In The Dark? (horror) - GOG.
8. Solomon's Key (puzzle) - No idea...
9. Call Of Duty/Medal Of Honor (FPS) - I have beaten both... Maybe I will check out COD2.
10. Knights Of The Old Republic (RPG) - I can finally get around to my copy of this. I look forward to it.
11. Daytona USA (racing) - No thanks, I have played it, but this genre just isn't for me.
12. Harvest Moon (farm sim) - I know it's expensive, but I may cough up the money for the SNES game...just because.
Together Retro 2016 Calendar - FINAL
Re: Together Retro 2016 Nomination Thread OMG!
I'd honestly only pick up the GOG version if you're also interested in Star Control I. The Ur-Quan Masters release has everything the original DOS version has plus the voices available from the 3DO version plus being able to choose between DOS and 3DO for various other interface features plus easy key rebinding.Ack wrote:1. I'll see your MVS and raise you an AES.4. Metal Slug (run-n-gun) - I will play this. On my MVS. Bitches.

I may pick up MVS Metal Slug myself. It's not painfully expensive.

I know, but I am curious about both. I'd like to compare and contrast the two to see how they play.MrPopo wrote:I'd honestly only pick up the GOG version if you're also interested in Star Control I. And nothing beats the feeling of getting through Metal Slug on a cab.

If you are going to compare and contrast, then definitely do the ur Quan masters, as you can switch the game up between pc and 3do on the fly, or mix them up and take the best of both.Ack wrote:I know, but I am curious about both. Hmm, probably only going to play like half of these.
Star Control, Pitfall, Pokeymans, and Harvest Moon don't inspire much interest in me. Never played a BioWare game before, and the Trekkie in me says my first isn't going to be KOTOR.
I've tried AITD a couple of times before, and it makes my eyeballs bleed. I may play one of the later games like New Nightmare (which I own on PC) or Inferno on PS3 (if I can re-acquire by then).
R-Type, Daytona, and Metal Slug have me stoked though. Played all of those to some extent before, and it'll be fun to fire them up again (except Daytona, which will be an at-home first for me). Solomon's Key I don't really know much about, but I'm willing to give it a go. COD/MOH month should be cool too. I liek shooting doods.

Wait... you are a bit of a trekking and you are NOT interested in Star Control 2?! My haiku brother, you will regret that decision. I get that not really knowing about a game makes you less encouraged to play the game, but trust me, this will scratch every itch you have except the one on your penis!TSTR wrote:Hmm, probably only going to play like half of these.

Despite my suggestions the other day, I just had the thought that Harvest Moon might be a good february pick - seeing as wooing the ladies is a gameplay element, it'd be fairly fitting for Valentines.

that's not bad. I had worked on a calendar and put it in September, thinking that the start of Autumn made sense for a farming game.alienjesus wrote:Despite my suggestions the other day, I just had the thought that Harvest Moon might be a good february pick - seeing as wooing the ladies is a gameplay element, it'd be fairly fitting for Valentines.
