Which gaming community do you wish still existed?

I just miss gaming forums in general, as they existed back in 06/07. Facebook, Youtube, and Twitch seem to have killed off a lot of the appeal of forums. Basically we have a few relics here and there like Racketboy and NintendoAge, or you can use 4chan. Used to be nearly every gaming journalism site had a decent forum component, and there was always the [insert game name here]Planet websites. And then there were fan-made communities that others have posted.

Technically Gamefaqs boards are still pretty popular, but I have the distinct impression that they're even more terrible than they used to be.

I miss the Racketboy Sale/Trade forum. It was much better a couple of years ago and just isn't the same today as if was then. We can't get a pick box going anymore and the offerings are a lot less then they used to be.

I stopped going a couple months ago. My current account there started in 2001, but my GBA board went so far downhill that I could not keep going.

I used to post a bit in the Shining Force Central forums back in the late 90's and early 00's, loved that series and was into the community a bit.

In regards to communities, not necessarily on forums, also enjoyed Counter Strike, Ragnarok, and Phantasy Star Online's communities a lot. CS and Ragnarok especially bring back good memories -- taking trips to different web/lan cafes to play, because high speed internet wasn't available at the time yet.

Also miss the local arcade scene. Up until recently there was a great arcade in NYC, Chinatown Fair, which had a lot of fighters and shoot em ups, and had a loyal following. They also kept the cabinets in good condition. It's still open but was taken over by new owners and redone, with most of the classic games replaced by newer games more children/family oriented.

Really? What was your SFC username?
Check out my YouTube Channel DariaPlays for super nerdy video reviews on classic RPGs and Adventure titles. Bonus: I don't suck! Pinky-swear.

I used to use Kaillera a lot, even when you patched everything through another matchmaking program it was great. I think you can still use it, and play emulator matches on more games than ever, I just stopped using it.

I miss a few communities.

Old school battle.net lobbies and the community there. Late 90's early 200's chat rooms!

World of Warcraft Community. Where everyone on the server knew who you were, where credibility was a thing and finding groups took some time and required you to know what you were doing.

Phantasy Star Online. Staying up late, making symbol chats that were really cool. Doing challenge runs and dungeon crawls with buds. Good times.

I used to frequent an old forum called Videogamesource.com. It was a great community, and for me started on their Diablo II boards. I probably wouldn't have appreciated a lot of the games I do now without that forum community. Or be involved with gaming message boards today.
