It is one of my very favorite topics.
I PM'd Dave about it a few days ago, but he hasn't responded. My wife and I already started working on our "October pile" last weekend. We watched Nightmare On Elm Street 3 and The Hills Run Red. We just tend to have more movies planned for the Halloween season than we can get thru in one month.
Yeah, I'm already prepped and good to go for my big horror extravaganza, but I'm gonna hold off until the actual start.
Typically though we wouldn't create the actual thread until a couple of days before. I think the earliest one we made was on Sept. 20. Heck, noise made one on Oct. 1 one year.
Honest question: Do you guys enjoy horror movies because they actually scare you, for the absurdity of the violence, love special effects, or enjoy them simply because most of them are laugh out loud bad?
I'm always drawn to sci-fi thrillers/horror films like THE THING, ALIEN, THE FLY, and movies along those lines as they genuinely give me chills. The fingernail scene in one of the mentioned movies gave me nightmares.

Everything but the last one. And I don't enjoy Sci fi horrors. I'm also intrigued with serial killer documenteries. I find the subject fascinating so I enjoy slashers or thrillers like gone girl, dark places etc. The demon/ghost horrors generally don't interest me either.
I don't get horror, at all. Aliens is the best of the trilogy because it isn't just a horror movie; it's a sci fi battle where the horror nature of the enemy makes it incredibly hard to overcome.

also has Newt. And stereotypes. Also it has lines including: "You look like how I feel" and a conversation of: "Do you ever wish you were a man", and the woman responds, "No, do you?".

ALIEN is like EMPIRE and ALIENS is JEDI.
"Hey Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?"
"No, have you?"
If you're going to quote awesome dialog please do it right.
