I am going to go a little spoilerish here:Rurouni_Fencer wrote:I thought The Wrestler was great! I agree, it does portray the lifestyle pretty well. One scene in particular that got to me was when he sits down for the convention, and all the old-timers are either crippled, barely conscious, or both, and how he realizes that the spark is starting to fizzle.. It's intense without being overly provocative.
And Tomei - WOW!
I was really touched by the moment in the movie when his daughter grabs his arm right before they do that ball room dancing part. So when she blew up at him later on, that really, really hit me hard. I felt very sad for him. The saddest part though was seeing Tomei's character try and reach out to him at the end, but it was too little too late. I am assuming he dies at the end, but they don't show us. I love this movie, but it is so sad I don't want to ever watch it again. The movie really leads you to believe this guy is going to have a happy ending....and then it all comes crashing down.
But again, seeing an almost completely naked Marisa Tomei certainly made me smile
