Lampshade (NES)

I mean... Nightshade (NES)
Just make sure you have savestates, keep enough cash to eat lots of nuts, and don't use the healing chamber unless absolutely necessary.

And try its spiritual, and more action-packed, sequel that also doesn't (but should have) use mouse-support: Shadowrun (SNES)

Grim Fandango on the PC is a classic. I liked the story and the visual style and sound although I found some of the puzzles to be quite difficult. Its movement system is a bit awkward as you move around with either the keyboard or a gamepad (the mouse isn't used). Being an old pc game from the late 90s, I'm not sure how easy it is to get a copy and then run it on a modern OS. I think I ran it on Windows ME.

The most recent game I've played which I definitely recommend is Machinarium by a small independent developer called Amanita Design. It's somewhat short but it has a nice visual design and aural design. There are no words in the game with any sort of dialogue or thought balloons being filled with pictures to tell you what the character is thinking or saying. The puzzles can be quite elaborate with multiple tasks and items required to fully complete them. There usually isn't too much running around from different areas to solve a puzzle and many puzzles are self contained in one area. There is a minimal use of inventory items and once the item has served its purpose, the main character usually throws it away.

It also has a neat two-tier hint system which uses comic book style panels. Although unlocking the second hint requires one to play a somewhat tedious but otherwise laughably easy 2d sidescrolling shooter mini-game. Also sometimes this second hint reveals the entire solution in too obvious a manner.

It requires Flash to be played and if you haven't set your Adobe Flash settings to allow the game to save data to your computer, then you won't be able to save your progress (I learned this the hard way). http://machinarium.net/forum/index.php/topic,463.0.html

We've recently played Titanic Mysteries (good, but short...more finding things and using them to open doors, locks, etc - as opposed to actual in-game puzzles).

I picked up Broken Sword SotTemplars, very good as well, but we are stuck on a puzzle / we have the answer, its a matter of getting the wii-motion sensor to perform the task, very frustrating.

We also have the Agatha Christie games now, which are right up our alley, but a bit graphic in the beginning.

We are starting Zack and Wiki Barbaros today, should be more Sam and Max and less Titanic from the looks of it.

Keep the Wii Puzzle / adventure ideas coming...

Sounds like you want games like Myst, The 7th Guest. These are the puzzle book with cutscene style of adventure game. Personally I vastly prefer the traditional Sierra/LucasArts style where puzzles are integrated into the narrative. But to each his own I guess. I didn't see these mentioned in the thread, so you should check them out and see how this sub-genre got started.

I mentioned Myst in the op, and that is exactly what were looking for...but preferrably on Wii. That is the main system in the family room, the wireless piece being important, but also many of these new puzzle games allow the 2-4 player wiimotes to be involved, by scanning the screen, etc - this is important w/young kids who don't want to just be watching.

Ok, trying this again.

Looking for Wii Games Only.

Ones we really really liked, and looking for VERY similar.
Safecracker - Our favorite, really would like something like this.
Titanic Hidden Mysteries
Agath Christie
(both of them)
Broken Sword

A bit different, a bit kiddo-centric, but still enjoyable:
Sam and Max (both)
Zack and Wiki

Games that were suggested, but not quite what we are wanting, (not really puzzle solving-point n' click), but good nonetheless:
Rooms
Gravity
Mercury Meltdown

So, to be crystal, does anyone know of any other games FOR the WII that are very much like the Games listed above GREEN?

I love point and click games on the wii. Here's a couple I own that aren't on your list.

Secret Files: Tunguska - Some of the puzzles aren't quite obvious but I still enjoyed this one, With lots of humor, plays somewhat like Siberia on the Xbox. Wish the sequel wasn't cancelled in the US. You can import the sequel from Eur.

Harvey Birdman - plays like a humorous simpilier version of Ace Attorney. If you liked the show give this game a whirl.

Back to the Future the game - not the best version of this game but still fun.

Spy Fox in "Dry Cereal" - This game was made for kids.

Another Code R - Eur only, if you like Trace memory this is the sequel.

I've seen the Secret Files Tunguska game, missed out on an auction a few months back and it fell off my radar. Good reminder.

Is Back to the Future WiiWare / Virtual Console only?

I never new what Harvey Birdman was, it's always in bargain bins at local stores for like $3 or something, figured it was a terrible platformer or something. I'll have to grab that one.

EDIT: Anyone played Mystery Case Files: The Malgrave Incident. ?

I passed on Safecracker a few times at Gamestop because it looked like not much of a game, just opening Safes. You sparked my curiousity, a full review?

I know you are looking for just Wii games, but what of Gamecube games that run in the vertical Wii? There is Gamecube Hudson Loderunner, a remake of the classic. You'll need a Wii that can play imports. As for a Wii game, maybe Elebits, the puzzle aspect of the hunt? Anothe game, Wii Impossible Mission is frustrating hard, but a good remake of the C64 version.
