Diablo 2
Warcraft 3
Age of Empires 2
Halo Combat Evolved
Doom

They're not modern...
I don't think we should split it up. I think we should just pick platform and stick to that, if people want to organise they're own little gatherings on their respective platforms then so be it, but we should have a nominated 'platform of choice'.
If this is an official Racketboy forum, I am against it. I have no problem with this topic existing, but if you make it an official one, it takes away from the theme of this site. You might say one exception want hurt, but then more and more exceptions will be made till it won't seem like this is a retro site anymore, just a gaming site. Basically I don't want this on the front page of topics, like the regular TR is.
Now as a regular thread sticking just to the forums I am okay with it. But to be a true togethermodern and the get the most involved you need to include wii, ds, and psp. You can see for yourself all the people calling for the Wii. Now it doesn't have to be all the time but enough to get other people to join.
But to be honest I would rather a Togther Modern to be about spotlighting modern games that have a retro feel or look, and not about online. That would stick more to the theme of this site and I wouldn't have a problem with it on the front page. If you want an online topic why not just make a thread where you have racketboy online meet-ups and everyone votes for the next game. Keep it seperate from the Together Retro spin off idea.

I had no intention of thinking of this as a separate forum or front page idea, no worries.
In fact, the response so far has made me think it makes sense to just to go with our current method of doing these kinds of multiplayer gaming meetups and just scrap the idea of something more formal...

That's a good idea, but it'd mean leaving out a lot of people no matter what. My thought on it is to leave out handhelds and focus on consoles. We could do 2 exclusives for each console, and 6 multi platform games. The Wii would still get short changed because it doesn't have so many of the retail or downloadable games, but at least it'd a place.

I like that idea. That way those of us with just one modern console won't be completely left out. I know the Wii isn't all that big with online multiplayer, but for the most part what it does have, it does well and I think excluding it would be a real shame.
Maybe each month could feature a ps3/360 game and a wii game.
Jan: cod mw2 (ps3/360) and Goldeneye (wii)
Feb: halo reach (360), killzone 2 (ps3), and the conduit (wii)
March: burnout paradise (ps3/360) and mariokart (wii)
Just an idea. Might cause too much confusion

Too much diffusion. Might as well not bother. If you don't own the game. Oh well, wait until next month. Seriously. You can't own every single game on the planet.
