Increased spam posting?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Increased spam posting?

Post by Hobie-wan »

Ok, so is it just me or is there a lot more spam posting going on? I know its buying season, but there's been more spam than usual on the board here. My Craigslist had been getting almost unusable the past few weeks. I Just went to look at the video Game section and there are about 40 posts since midnight and 30 of them are from one of the spammers that's been going nuts recently. Is anyone else noticing more crap in boards and such they frequent?

I mean seriously, look at this shit. :x

I've been seeing a general increase in spam traffic for the past 4 months or so on many fronts, hopefully it will die off a bit soon.

If not, Moderators and people in generally will have to be more aggressive at controlling the spam quantity

You are not the only one; DC and Baltimore have had an unprecedented amount of spam in the past few days. Speaking of Spam; have you seen the front page recently? I count five separate Spam postings.

Ditto for me in the Boston Craigslist. It's for the same company that changes its website URL and email address all the time. If you check out the site, they don't accept credit cards or paypal. No thanks.

Dear Hobie-wan sir,

It is an honor to speak with you. I am the son of Nigerian royalty. I have been requested by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company to contact you for assistance in resolving a matter. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company has recently concluded a large number of contracts for oil exploration in the sub-Sahara region. The contracts have immediately produced moneys equaling US$40,000,000.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company is desirous of oil exploration in other parts of the world; however, because of certain regulations of the Nigerian Government, it is unable to move these funds to another region.

Your assistance is requested as a non-Nigerian citizen to assist the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, and also the Central Bank of Nigeria, in moving these funds out of Nigeria. Etc., etc., etc.

The only thing not suggested is taking a Cash Advance to pay for a ticket to Nigeria.

Please help us.

same here in Raleigh craigslist. It gets annoying because you have to skip those and in the process, you could miss a good deal. Let's hunt spammers to extinction, just like elephants :D
