That processor is pretty slow compared to the current Intel line, but it should still greatly outperform the 2.8GHz P4. Let us know how the demo goes. I think it'll be solid. :)

Here's something I found on Google too.

I just grabbed that demo, to make sure. Runs very well on my dual core Intel 2.1ghz/3GB laptop which is pretty much where I play everything we play here, I would hope that it could be played in full screen instead of a window. Should be no trouble for modern PCs.

noiseredux wrote:this is a pretty serious conundrum for me, haha. I have very little interest in WRPG's but was like "alright, I'll have to give it a real shot since it's a TR title" and then Shikigami gets picked for January which means I know I'll be spending a lot of time playing that. Suddenly I'm in less of a rush to spend $10 on a WRPG that I'm not all that excited to be playing. :|

I bet it is, right? For $10 on GOG, the price is right at least, so even if it's a bust, I've given it a try. I'll of course check in here to see how you're all doing in January, and if I can get sufficient information, I'll provide the game's write-up as always.

I'm still very excited about this year as I look over it again. We have a game from the 80s, the 90s are well represented, and even some from the past few years. A game from NMK, a game from Dooyong, and Varth and Air Gallet. Can't go wrong at all. Thanks to those who came up with these new and unusual titles.

I assume Gekioh Shooting King will be accepted as a port of Shienryu?

The Wikipedia page for it doesn't say there are any major gameplay changes (other than in new modes obviously), so I'd say yes. I'll need to look into it more though to see if a separate score table will be necessary.

We included Gekioh in the same score table as Shienryu in the Hi-Score thread:

Cool. Now I gotta track down a copy of Shikigami 2.

I can probably get a cheap PS2 version at a local GS, maybe. I might spent the extra to get the GC-J version; not quite as salty as the DC-J.

Go for the us ps2 port. The dc port is really nice, but the ps2 port is easily my favorite.

What does it have besides the hilarious dub? I need to snag one of the versions too.

I'd be down for this too if things don't workout for CC.

I love ZANAC. Played the game to death on the NES. Totally awesome shmup.

I'll leave the decision up to you guys.

==============================

January - Castle of Shikigami II
February - Dragon Spirit
March - Air Gallet
April - Crimzon Clover (sub: Zanac?)
May - Varth
June - Cotton Boomerang
July - Rapid Hero
August - Month off due to annual shmups.org competition
September - Shienryuu
October - Blue Hawk
November - Raiden IV
December - Giga Wing

if CC doesn't work out for some reason, the substitution would pretty obviously be Sapphire which was the 2nd most votes in dsheinem's picks.
