I like that idea...a lot.
I think we might have 10-12 very actives and another dozen moderately actives (and another dozen of sporadically actives).'
If bruno and the main actives are on board with that idea, let's do it.

or similarly, how many of us participate in this thread right now? If 11-ish, it would be ineteresting if we each got to pick a single game and do the little write-up to fill others in on it, and try to get everyone else into it. Just an idea.
Okay, now there are 3 ideas I like!

Also, we must play Crimzon Clover next year.
It would be cool to vote on a doujin game. I would also put in a vote for CC, that game is pretty damn cool from what I've played so far.
I know that NMK was not in our vote, which is a damn shame. Of course, Cave was set aside for TR, but we are still dedicating a month toward Cave... but still, I think we should have a Cave month, just because I love so many of their games.
There are a lot of smaller devs like Video System (Aero Fighters/Turbo Force), Alfa System (Shiki), Skonec, and some bigger names like Milestone, Triangle, and SNK that I don't think we did.
Re: Shmup of the Month Club (Mars Matrix)
My thoughts -
- Picking devs then voting games worked well, weed out the devs that didn't draw well, put in new ones that we wanted to include (like the genres that switch in and out of TR every year)
- All new games, no repeats, but perhaps apply extra weight to those that came close to winning this year (Genkiridan, etc.)
- Retain August off for STGT, cuz that was awesome
I did all 12 months, and even though there were some games that didn't draw activity well, I'd be more than happy to do it all over again.

Yeah, something like this is probably the best bet. We've got a month to work it out since TR is taking over this month so we should be good.
So far as I can tell, these have been the most active people in the thread/the most likely to participate next year:
ExedExes
dunpeal2064
mjmjr25
noiseredeux
foxhound1022
hashiriya1
Tyranix95
EllertMichael
I'd personally like to see what you guys would pick, I'll pick one too. That would leave 9 games potentially picked, leaving 2 spots open assuming we take off in August.

We can't pick Gekirindan now because Exed misspelled it
But yeah, I am really digging Noise's idea. Then, at least 11 people would be really excited to see what everyone thought of their choice, and we could all have someone to )light-heartedly) blame for getting a game we don't like.
If we do it that way, should we tell each other at least what devs we are choosing, to avoid duplicates, and then pick the games? Or at least something to avoid a mass amount of one dev

I think it would be great to have a nice mix between some hidden gems (NMK

Another idea (not saying it's a good one) is to have sequels/prequels.
Truxton --> Truxton 2
Dimahoo --> Mahou Daisakusen
Radiant Silvergun --> Ikaruga
Dodonpachi --> DOJ

Not a bad idea. Kinda interesting actually.
Ok, you all know my choices. I'm happy to man up and throw down on whatever game(s) you're up to playing.
1. CAVE: PROGEAR
2. RAIZING: DIMAHOO
3. TAKUMI: MARS MATRIX or GIGA WING
4. CAPCOM: UN SQUADRON, or 19XX
5. SEIBU: RAIDEN II, RAIDEN D/X, RAIDEN FIGHTES, RAIDEN FIGHTERS 2: OPERATION HELL DRIVE, or VIPER: USA / NEW EDITION.
6. PSIKYO: STRIKERS 1945, or STRIKERS 1945 II, or STRIKERS 1945+.
And, when it comes to scoring, you're never going to find a game with an even playing field. Some guys just kick ass while others guys just mop the floor. That's just the way it goes. It's a given. I know. I've been on both ends many times.
Anyways, if you're looking for "Alternate SOTM" ideas: How about adding a 1CC board to go with the Hi-Score board. That way the guys who can get far in a game on 1CC (but don't score very Hi) can have something to pay for. They can mark their progress by "Check Points," like Level-Start, Mini-Boss, and Boss.

I'd have to think it over, bruno. But my first instinct is to say that my month's pick would be Castle of Shikigami II.
Re: Shmup of the Month Club (Mars Matrix)
guess I'll take my ball and go home

Why's that? You electing Crimson Clover for a month would be fantastic.
