Good to see so much activity on this months game. I've still been playing, but have been unable to reach my previously lofty high scores in either version.

Keep playing like that an you wont be hanging out in the HI-POINT AREA. Now go raise some hell and burn the pants off someone. I want to see you light the score board up.


Speaking of score board, when is M5 going to post the board. I want to see the what the ladder (list) looks like.

Yeah, I'm thinking there may be a scoring multipler hidden somewhere in the chains. I suspect that I'm picking up more points on runs with longer chains. On that 21B+ run, I had a 350+ pt chain on Lv. 1 and ended the round with 1000+ exp.
Yes. When you get a chain of +350 say, it doesn't just add +350 to exp. It also added +349 and +348 and +347, etc.
Take a simple chain of 20 small +1 cubes for example:
1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+10+11+12+13+14+15+16+17+18+19+20= 210 total added to exp.
That's much better than two +10cubes: +10+20= 30
And of course the more +1 cubes, the more exponential the total gets. Meanwhile, the larger cubes are primarily for more time to keep a chain going.
This is why it's good to reflect enemy bullets to create a bunch of +1cubes. You don't necessarily have to chain an entire stage to get a good score (just to get super scores

And your exp amount is also a multiplier. Whatever the base point value of a destroyed enemy is, that's multiplied by your exp. So the more exp you have, the more total points you get for shooting stuff. This is why it's important to get a good start early, in stage 1, as it's difficult to make exp up in the harder stages (until mid-stage 3 anyway).
Maybe this is all common knowledge, but hopefully it helps explain chains and exp a little clearer.

Took a few more runs--Got to the Crab Boss again--Lasted longer--Score went up again--This guy is going down soon.

Started Stage 2 with 75K exp, and finally got to meet the infamous "Crab Boss" for all of 30 seconds.

But as you probably saw, the real fight has just begun. Stage 4 is harsh; arguably tougher than stage 5...
