Friendly announcement: sign-ups are getting started for STGT '12: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=42171 - there's no game of the month for next month as many of us will be doing this instead...

Thanks for the heads up so that all can see. I'm working on getting in there, looks like fun with a new undetermined game every week!

Haven't played this in a while. Thought I'd give it a couple rounds tonight.

Nice job busting the 5mil barrier! Crazy that that's only stage 2? Or I guess stage 8? Lol.

I tried to keep gusto with this game, but to no avail. Just doesn't feel like a shootin game. More feels like disrupting a spaceship synchronized swimming meet.

Please let there be no treadure in stgt.

You know, thats *exactly* how I felt. Early on, I gave the game very good chances, and I loved the ideas and innovation presented to this, and I'd play it again for sure, but that constant memorization and if you mess up just once, you lose that good chain, ya know? I like the boss piece-by-piece scheme, that was a great idea.

Ikaruga being a spiritual sequel also has the same thing, but it's a bit easier with only 2 colors to deal with.

I saw the STGT list for this year on a thread over at shmups.org, and the potential games look pretty decent with no Treasure on there.

The faults that some of you mention are the reason I keep coming back. Methodical and manic. A good break from the destroy-everything-that-moves type shooter. Being penalized for shooting from the hip keeps me on my toes more so than dodging bullets.

New score:

very impressive hashi!

The STGT completion has started! First week is Strikers 1999: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=42379

We have two slots left on our team "Attack Ships on Fire" if anyone wants to join in and play with some of your fellow Racketboy members. Shoot me a PM and I'll get you put on the squad.

^RE: STGT12...

I'm so pissed that it's not Raiden Fighters. If you guys missed it, RF and Strikers 1999 tied with 11 votes, and resulted in a coin-toss with Strikers the winner. Looks like my Raiden Fighter Aces will continue to collect dust while I hope that shmupMAME handles Strikers without a problem for me. Speaking of, can someone remind me which key takes screenshots in shmupMAME again?
