I was thinking that too. Did we plan that? I can't remember.

I believe we did, and this month I'm gonna take it to 4!

It was one I wanted for a while, but having only a DC, my only choice was getting a pricey import copy, but when I got my Cube, I noticed that it got a North American release, and when it's upwards of $30 to $100 and more for even a complete copy, this was a 1-day auction so the price couldn't get driven up too far. It would have been around $11-$12 if there were not 3 people meddling around with the bids 10 seconds before it ended.

Maybe I should have chosen the Stage 2 route. Stage 4a is a clusterfuck.

New score:

3,169,370 - hashiriya1 - Stage 4A - Saturn (Arcade mode)

Hash or dunp, can one of you provide detailed scoring tips. I'm hitting stage 4 at 1/10th yr score?

For example, what breaks a chain? Is it missing anything or only that color, or...something else? I got all the reds on stage one and the first dozen on stage 2, but it says my max red chain is 6?

Any scoring tips would be great - I am struggling to figure it out on my own.

Ill attempt to answer this in my completely fucked up state.

Basically, your chain goes up every 3 guys you kill, as long as they are the same color.

On the first stage, kill the 3 red dudes, then kill one blue enemy, and all yellow enemies after. You'll get a secret bonus worth 10k, and your yellow chain value will start at 10k. When the large red ship comes out to laser you, shoot him enough to break his laser, then proceed to kill the yellow ship and popcrn enemies. Then chain those new red enemies for a few points.

You can get a really sweet red chain going on stage 2, but I can't type it all, Id have to make a video.

For simple chains, killing an enemy of a different color will stop your chain. You'd be surprised how easy it is to accidentally kill the wrong color enemy and not notice it. Dying also breaks chains. If I break a chain by accident as far as stage 3C I will probably reset the game even if I have a full stock.

I pretty much do what Dunpeal mentioned on stage 3a. You can do a long red chain on stage 3a starting with the first 'tank', but don't kill him until you destroy the yellow tank (along with the yellow drones) first. Don't kill the blue tank or the blue drones. In fact the only blue enemies that should die before the boss is a single blue drone in the very beginning. Don't touch anything else that is blue. Be sure to get 100% on the boss as fast as possible. If you defeat him fast enough you'll have a chance to continue a red chain with some drones before the point tally screen. Try to AT LEAST break 300K on the first stage (3A). You should, at the very least, have 140K right before fighting the first boss. If you don't, you're not hitting the chains and weapon bonuses.

On stage 3B it's all one really long red chain. DO NOT kill anything blue or yellow throughout most of the stage until you get to the flotilla where there are blue, red, and yellow ships. Kill all but one of the red ones first, then use your spread (c button) to kill the blue and yellows on the left side at point blank range. You should get a 'secret'. Stage 3C is also one long red chain. Try you damnedest not to kill anything other than red enemies. 3D is the all red, one blue, all yellow chain trick (twice).

One thing that really helps are weapon bonuses. Master a couple of weapons and stick with them. I pretty much never use the Vulcan guns (A button and Y button) or the homing plasma (B button). I only use the sword to build up my meter by capturing pink bullets. It's all preference. Using lots of weapons is not good for scoring. 100% destruction rates on bosses helps a great deal as well.

Hope this helps.
