The 40GB PS3 was NEVER top of the line. When it came out, it was the low-end PS3. It was also the first model that was without PS2 backward capability.

Just thought I'd let ya know!
Ahhh well that was a while ago... my bad. I don't really use backwards capabilities. Never used it on my 80gb fat. I would rather just connect up my PS2 for that nostalgic feeling. Plus I hate the PS3 controller. I recently got PS2 to PS3 controller adapters. I just can't stand the PS3's L2 and R2 buttons.

I don't mind them at all... but then I like most every controller NES and after. I'm easy going that way. Of course, I do like some more than others; mainly the Genesis/MD 6-button pad and the original JP Saturn pad.

There were a few posts about people listing their dislike for the Saturn and how Sega of America did not bring over many of the good games from Japan. This got me thinking about the PAL Saturn games not availiable in the U.S. It is a interesting list to say the least:

3D Lemmings
Atlantis: The Lost Tales
Chaos Control
Darius II
Deep Fear
Destruction Derby
Keio Flying Squadron 2
Mega Man X3
Parodius
Riven
Sea Bass Fishing
Shinobi X (some see it as better than Shinobi Legions)
Swagman
King of Fighters '95
Z
Whizz

and more...

Just more interesting games in English for the System I guess. Parodius, King of Fighters '95 and Mega Man X3 really surprised me being an American Saturn owner.

Yeah, that's what's baffling me about this thread. There are so many bad consoles out there, why anyone would pick XBOX or Wii or N64 is far beyond me. Who enjoyed the CD-i or 3DO that much?

My favorite is the SNES. For least favorites, take your pick out of the many terrible consoles out there.
We know about those consoles, those answers are obvious and not fun.

My Sale thread, lots of nintendo, neo-geo, and sega stuff!

i might choose the 64, but maybe because i never had it as a kid.

my least favorite is more likely to be unknwon failed console like virtualboy, jaguar, or something weird from the 80s

but out of the popular ones, i might go with sega saturn.
i know ill get flamed, but its the only console the more i look at its games
the mor i am discouraged getting it as i amnot afan of rpgs, sport, or shmups
as for fighters i believe other consoles got them too,
its still better than sega master system i guess
If you like fighting games and you DON'T have a Saturn - you are doing it wrong.

End of story. That's all there is to it. Saturn is king when it comes to fighting games of that generation.

Looking at my Saturn and Dreamcast library it's almost exclusively import fighting games now, lol! Aside from the Neo Geo, Saturn an' DC were (hell, still are!) mandatory for any serious fighting game fan.

I would go as far as saying Saturn is king, but DC has my one of my favorite fighters of all-time (CvS2) so...

True, its legacy also played a big part in the reason the Dreamcast struggled to catch on with the gaming masses, in turn, leading Sega to leave the hardware game. As much as I
respect its niche factor, I can empathize with a lot of the flack thrown towards it. It was
big, clunky, difficult to develop for, rushed, in its construction and its retirement.

DC is mandatory for fighter fans as well, but the DC's library wasn't as unique. Any fighting game fan is going to want MvC2, CvS2, SF3:TS, etc. Hardcore fighting game fans want to have a taste of that Asuka 120%, Sokko Seitokai Sonic Council, Astra Superstars, Rabbit, etc. Hell, you might even want to try out Street Fighter EX's bastard sibling Final Fight Revenge.

Why should any of that affect the gamer? Maybe this would affect the gaming industry insiders, but the only reason any of this would affect the gamers is if they were easily influenced by gaming industry propaganda (and I'm not saying they aren't...)

The fact that the Saturn was difficult to develop for has no influence on the fun factor of the games themselves.

And Sega shot themselves in the foot long before the Saturn. Remember Sega CD? Sega 32X? Sega was in love with releasing new hardware.

I know my Sega history, and the Saturn was the unrecoverable death knell for the brand, really. It's got a smattering of awesome titles, but not nearly enough to qualify it as a truly great console in the eyes of many gamers, hence my allusion to the difficulty developing for it, as it warded a lot of developers away. I didn't make any aspersions as toward the funness of its available titles.
