I watched every single Halloween this past weekend. I would say the first three (actually the first, second, and fourth) were the best. By time I got to H20 I was just so sick of that stupid white mask and these idiotic people who more or less deserved to be stabbed (except Donald Pleasance - he's the man).

Then I watched John Carpenters The Thing and felt better. That movie is FREAKING awesome. Apparently the PS2 game/sequel is a really good survival horror game. I'm probably going to try and get a hold of a copy.

RE: Halloween... certainly 1, 3 and 4 are outstanding. I am one of those few who enjoy 3 for what it is. 5 and 6 have their moments. I think H20 is pretty great though. Resurrection is ...really bad, though.

Yeah, Slasher films just don't really do it for me. They myriad of creative deaths are interesting but the genre doesn't really intrigue or scare me that much.

Stuff like The Thing and Alien though are awesome. I'm more of a fan of bizarre gore I guess, haha.

I watched that Scream Doc the other day. It was pretty good.


Once again, I've been keeping myself busy. Lets start with the remakes, something I'm always wary of.



Really? MTV has the right to show this? That's surprising. Anyway, this was actually pretty good. I was always confused when my friend described it to me as a sequel remake. His description makes more sense now. Jason moves a lot faster in this version than I ever remember him moving before. I'm not sure how I feel about that, but overall not to bad as far as remakes go.

I do wish that since they went ahead and referenced the events of the first movie, that they had just used the footage from the first film instead of recasting and shooting it like they did. I think that would have helped link the films together better, and, lets face it, the lady they picked for Mama Voorhees was alright, but no one can top Betsy Palmer.

Another horror remake I've heard nice things about (it's sequel, not so much). Like I said, I'm wary of remakes, but Rob Zombie did alright by this one. Having some back-story for Michael was nice, but I think I like the complete lack of knowledge of Michael in the original better. Other than that, Brava.

Alright, maybe Death Proof really doesn't count as horror, but they were on back-to-back so I'm putting it here anyway. I haven't seen them before and they were both really good. I did like Planet Terror more, but Death Proof does have some pretty good moments.

I don't really know what to say about this one. I didn't find it very impressing. I guess there comes a point where you watch so many vampire movies that they all sort of seem the same.

We quickly find out that the good Dr. Clayton has killed his evil twin. But the twin awakens as a vampire (a fact that it takes Dr. Clayton and company most of the movie to come to terms with) and is set on getting revenge on his murderous brother by, of course, going after the pretty niece.

Not a bad movie by any means, but I feel it's a little too close to the original Dracula to really catch my interest.

Before this I didn't know TCM showed films with nudity. But apparently they do.

Vincent is a farmer who's known in his local area as the best meat-smoker around. Only problem is, he uses a very special ingredient, one he has to capture and plant himself.


It's creepier when they have the burlap sacks over their heads and the bags start to move -_-

The showdown at the end involves revenge, a chain-saw battle, and a mask that would be comical if you didn't know what it was made of.


And you thought your tour of the sausage factory was bad.

Really, Vincent would be an okay guy if he weren't so psychotic

Village of the Damed has something in it that disturbs me like no other: Creepy little children


Let this be a lesson. If your child's eyes start to glow, kill it.

Seriously, this and twitchy ghosts give me the geebies. There was a re-make of this with Christopher Reeves, but this is the superior version. Sometimes you just get more of a sense of dread with black and white than you do over color. And the kids in this one....just....*brrrr*

Trick R Treat

for the third year in a row, we watched this on Halloween night. This is (in my opinion) a new horror classic. It's just that not a lot of people have seen it yet. But this one should catch on over the years. It's a great little compilation like Creepshow, etc. All of the stories are fantastic (and all connected, which is cool). The direction is solid. The visuals are great. Oh and it's got a scene where Anna Paquin (dressed as Little Red Riding Hood) turns into a werewolf set to Manson's cover of "Sweet Dreams." So awesome.

There's been talk of a sequel, which I'd be thrilled about. But not sure what's going on with that.

How do you feel?

Truthfully, no different than any other month. In all honesty, horror is the bulk of what we watch around the NR household. Most of the movies are ones we've seen many times. But it was fun to chronicle it for a month and keep track of thoughts.

MOST IMPORTANTLY though, it was fun to share it. While I expected evildeadman and juan to stay tuned, I was thrilled by Michi's posts! It's great fun to find some one else a fan of something yr into but didn't realize you had it in common. As it turns out, michi has excellent taste in films -- I tended to agree very closely with most of his posts/ratings. (I actually adore Deathproof and I've seen it way more times than anyone could consider "normal") And speaking of his posts, they're great. Many of them are much better than mine in my own thread! So thanks for participating michi, and everyone else. It was fun!
