Yay! I'm not a huge fan of scary things but when October starts coming...I start feeling the need for scary things.
I have this kinda silly tradition that goes back to when I was 10 or so and finally (without my mom knowing) saw the original Halloween. After that I'v been recording Halloween 1 and 2, Friday the 13th and the usual classics every year and watching them through October. I also record Halloween craft and food shows but that's not scary lol.
It's a good tradition for me since I'm to old to trick or treat anymore (stopped when I was 15 and even then I was stretching it) and I don't really have any friends so no partys to go to and I hate haunted houses...so the only thing left is to watch movies, eat candy, decorate the house and veg out.
Last year I started thinking I should expand my movies. But i'm very picky when it comes to movies. Like no silent films, I dislike b&w films but I can watch them if they are REALLY good, I strongly dislike crappy b-films with horrible acting and cheesy films are a no for me as well.
Like I can watch Night of the Living Dead and all the rest of it's movies. I happen to like that movie a lot. I dislike Day of the Dead (the 2008 remake) so i'm not huge on newer horror movies unless again they are very good. I seem to like 60's-80's horror films. I also like well...zombie films. I'v seen the 28 day/week movies, most of the Resident Evil films, Zombie Land and so on. If it's not a b movie/cheesy and has to do with zombies or zombie like viruses, I'v seen it...most likely. There's always a chance I missed one so if you know of a good zombie movie, let me know.
So with all that in mind, can anyone recommend some good films?
And since I also like playing horror games, anyone know of some cheap/free games for the pc? I'm short on cash right now so i'm not planning on buying anything on a console, retro or new gen. I know about slender and it's other games, I also know about Amnesia (really hate that game...scares me to much lol). I have both L4D's and I think that's all that really comes to mind when I think horror games.

Ah yes. The month I usually participate in these "together" events. I really like knocking out some horror games from the backlog. I think I beat re 3 on hard mode last year and maybe another game that currently slips my mind. My list this year:
RE 5
RE Operation Raccoon City
Silent Hill Downpour
Silent Hill 2
Silent Hill 3 ...maybe?

I know!
I played the first mod by the same creator (afraid of monsters a mod for half life 1) and i never beat it because is REALLY HARD.... and also really scary... wonder if i'll have the courage to try this one

I don't have a steam account... maybe i'll get it from other methods.
Also try Paranoia (again half life 1 mod) is REALLY good and has a creepy atmosphere in some areas in the game.
EDIT: Since you're already with HL 1 mods.... THEY HUNGER is a must!

It seems you are more than a little picky. I'm not criticizing you for it, but you are definitely going to present a challenge. However, I'll give it a shot.
For movies, see if any of these interest you:
Shivers - A David Cronenberg film about parasites which effectively operate as a venereal disease. The infected humans aren't zombies, per say, but they are violent maniacs with their faculties limited to base desire.
Cemetery Man - It's an Italian film from 1994 about a gravedigger who puts down zombies that no one else seems to notice are there while dealing with the woman he loves repeatedly leaving him because she A) dies, B) marries another man, C) is a prostitute, etc.
The Gates of Hell Trilogy - These Italian horror films by Lucio Fulci are violent and nasty. Fulci was an expert at making people squirm, so if you want a creepy atmosphere and disturbing effects, there's three to check out. Keep in mind that the first film is the weakest. The three films are City of the Living Dead (also known as The Gates of Hell), The Beyond, and The House by the Cemetery
For games, you might look into Imscared, Hide, Candles, 1916, and SCP: Containment Breach. All of these are free online.

Shivers is great, and feels like a bit of a companion to Rabid (though Shivers came first, and I think I prefer Rabid).

Last night, my wife and I watched:

(a/k/a Kill, Baby...Kill! (1966)) on Netflix. It was outstanding, and it is easily my favorite Mario Bava film (which is saying something because I think Black Sunday (1960) is f*cking awesome). The extravangtly shot period horror film tells the story of a coroner investigating a series of bizarre murders in turn-of-the-century Carpathian Mountains. The film has a tremendous atmosphere; it is genuinely creepy; and it provides some great scares. Mario Bava's distinct style is on full display, and I loved every minute of it. Finally...it is available for streaming on Netflix; so, anyone with Netflix has excuse for missing out on this gem.
