I'm all for GameStop carrying vintage games. Thank the gaming gods!!!
My local used game shops are all over-priced and woefully understocked. I get nearly all my gaming deals at the local Goodwill store, and those finds are few and far in-between.
It sounds like the
gamestop retro stuff will be online only. All we'll get
is some more manuals and boxes destroyed and higher prices due to
gamestop buying up as many old games as they can get their grubby mits on and trying to sell them at ebay inspired rates.
Or at least that's what the cynical part of me says.
The cynical part of you
is stealing the words out of my keyboard. I used to wish
Gamestop would carry retro games but that was years ago when I was naive and
Gamestop was called EB Games. I cannot think of anything good that will come of
Gamestop entering the retro game business. Retro gaming will take on an even higher profile than it's already rose to in the past five years, prices will rise even more, and irreplaceable original boxes and manuals will be forever lost. I'm fine with
Gamestop as far as the current gen
is concerned, but if the way they treat PS2 stuff
is even a slight indication of what we can expect then this will be horrible.
