Which console do you think has the best controller?
Re: Which console do you think has the best controller?
The dualshock is my favourite controller of all time. I feel it's the most versatile of all the controllers. The symmetrical analog sticks and the split dpad are my favourite features of the dualshock. Picking up a 360 controller, it feels more comfortable to hold, but that's it. I dont like the triggers, the buttons, and especially the awful dpad and reversed left analogue. The gamecube controller is too chunky and ugly. Holding it makes me think of an infant playing with a clunky tonka toy. The dreamcast controller I'm also starting to dislike because the box for the controller accessories gets in the way of my fingers, the analogue stick is too high up, and none of the buttons are very comfortable to use. I do like the trigger placement on it though, and I think my second favourite controller would be the saturn 3d controller. It had accessible buttons sized appropriately for the amount it had, and the whole thing feels much more comfortable to hold than the dreamcast controller. My perfect controller would be some kind of mix between the dual shock and saturn. Maybe the dual saturnshock with two symmetrical analogue sticks, four button dpad, six excellent face buttons, and two shoulder buttons and saturn triggers! I think it would cover every type of game from shooters to fighters to games like katamari.

360 controllers are my personal favorite due to the button and analog layout. It works great with so many games. My close second is the dreamcast controller, I don't know why anyone would complain about the cord being on the bottom.
Re: Which console do you think has the best controller?
I voted for the Saturn pad because of the d-pad and the buttons are perfectly placed for much all games and its just like the Genesis 6 button control except its more comfortable. The Dual Shock is really comfortable for all games except for fighters other than that its great too. IMO I like all the controls on the list, their all great choices.
Systems: Sega Dreamcast(x2), Sega Genesis(x2), Sega Saturn, Sega CD, Genmobile (portable Genesis), FC Twin, PSX, PS2(x2), GBA, SP, Xbox 360, N64, Showcase Arcade

Because it puts stress on the connection to the controller and wastes like two inches of cord having to retrace it's path back to the console. Unless you're holding the controller upright instead of flat. Which... is odd.OneXSH wrote:360 controllers are my personal favorite due to the button and analog layout. I wonder who would actually play like that(-_-) wrote:Because it puts stress on the connection to the controller and wastes like two inches of cord having to retrace it's path back to the console. I agree with the Dual Shock being a really great controller EXCEPT for fighters. For example, after playing Street Fighter on the Saturn, there is no way in hell i will play the same game on another system simply because of the controllers. Saturn controller is unrivaled in this category. the d-pad is on point !DCsegaDH wrote:I voted for the Saturn pad because of the d-pad and the buttons are perfectly placed for much all games and its just like the Genesis 6 button control except its more comfortable. The Dreamcast controller, a lightweight controller with a simple layout, accurate thumbstick and responsive shoulder buttons. Had elongated handle grips that fit my small hand perfectly. A close runner up would be the 360 controller.
I was so ready to type up a counter to an arguement from someone trashing this thing- when I went to type in "perfectly," I instead wrote "subjectively."

Mine is the 360 followed closely by the gamecube.

Sega Saturn. Over everything though a mouse and keyboard is the best.
Older. Not wiser.

Hmm, I'm split on this issue. The problem is that I associate a lot of great games across platforms with the control scheme provided them. For example, it's mostly agreeable that the Playstation has a great controller (honestly all 3 are pretty much the same), but I can't imagine playing Super Mario 64 with one. There's just no way.
Oh well, maybe I'll decide later.
