Gameboy Advance Link Games List Guide

How to identify GBA Bootleg Carts: viewtopic.php?p=353523#p353523

With the upcoming cancellation of GBA games at Gamestop, now is the time to stock on GBA carts while you can. Brings another point, purchase of a SECOND GBA cart for multi cart Link Cable games?

I hate favorite listings threads because it is a continual rehash of everyone's own personal choice. So I am just adding a list of ALL GBA carts that require use of a Link Cable arrangement. Pokemon games are already known for Link Cable compatibilty. I did find a list for the Wireless Link and the GBA to Gamecube Link games. I also added a list of multi player link games that only need one GBA cart to multi boot all connected GBAs.

When Nintendo created the Game Boy Advance, the development team gave the system the added functionality that's known in development circles as "Multi-Boot." If this feature is implemented in a certain game, the system will send a file through the link cable (or cables if more than two systems are connected) and load it into each system's internal RAM. This function gives Game Boy Advance owners the ability to join in multiplayer gaming without needing an additional cartridge. The long load times are eliminated if both players have a copy of the cartridge.

Damn Xevious is only $1.99 and a wireless link is only $0.99. So if you can find 2 of each it is only $5.96 plus tax for two player shump up time.

Great minds think alike.

I just spotted that too and editing into the OP. This list is for multiboot carts, only one cart needed for link multi player games. This does help, preventing a need to buy these link games. Although they load faster if the second player has a duplicate cart. I'm glad I already own Jazz Jack Rabbit!

EDIT
OP Updated.

Still need a list for link games requiring TWO GBA carts.

Need to get the GBA-gamecube linker and a classic GBA soon. These lists are helpful though.

Nintendo's website has a game search with filters such as Game Boy Advance, Multi-Pak ( multiplayer w/ multiple cartridges needed I think ) and # of players. Setting the filter just on Game Boy Advance and Multi-Pak, I get 144 games: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/gamesl ... dvance&ef=

Much more than I expected. If I set the filters to Game Boy Advance and 2 Player Simultaneous only, I get 203 results.

It looks like this is a good source, now the data or multiplayer game list just needs to be compiled. Here is the gamelist website: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/gameslist/gamelist.jsp

Click Show Advanced Filter.

THANKYOU! The OP is updated with a Multi Pack List.

I added your link at the bottom of the OP under References. Hopefully the Nintendo site will get updated to include a separate search for link games later on. The Multi Pack Search is one way to find the link games.

Wow, this is a great topic, I should read through this forum section...

I have some links about this stuff.

Wikipedia has a list of GameCube games that make use of the GBA link cable.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_GameCube%E2%80%93Game_Boy_Advance_cable

Here's a Multi-boot Game List

http://www.pocketheaven.com/ph/wiki/index.php?title=List_of_GBA_multiboot_games
In Particular I'd like to mention PocketNES - I've had so much fun playing 2 player games with my brother on our GBAs.
There's some lists for 2 and 4 player games compatible with it here:
http://www.pocketnes.org/lists.html

And another (this ones's great - it lists # of players ,gives a synopsis and a rating!"):
http://www.mygamer.com/gba-single-pak-linking-games/

Edit: fixed mygamer link

THANKYOU! Some very good links full of info! I added your links to the bottom of the OP under References. I have my work cutout going thru your links, updating the OP as I find new games. Oh crap, this means I'll be on the hunt buying more GBA games too! :D

Legend of Zelda: Windwaker uses the GBA-GC link cable. It allows you to use the GBA as a sort of map. It does not link to any GBA game though.

Edit: As do quite a few other Gamecube games. But this thread is about GBA games so I missed the point. Sorry.
Mostly harmless
