What horror game are you playing?
Re: What horror game are you playing?
Hmm, well if I don't like Obscure, I'll definitely give the sequel a shot too.
Yeah Cold Fear is one of the biggest standouts when I skim through my wishlist. Definitely a high tier choice because of the RE4 comparisons I've always heard. Looks pretty solid.
I've briefly played some of Penumbra back when it was newer but don't remember it pulling me in, but I have my weird PC gaming phases haha. Now that I have a foldout tray and a wireless k/m I do feel a lot more motivated to play PC games lately, which is all I've been doing. So maybe I will give it a shot perhaps in October or something.
One game I will tell you guys I'm glad I did not buy, would be Siren. I couldn't even finish a decent youtube walkthrough of it haha. The gameplay just looked awful. Really disappointing considering I went into it hearing how the original Silent Hill creator and some of that team went off to do that series.
Siren Blood Curse on the PS3 does however look pretty solid. Maybe 2 is decent as well, though I think that was Japan only.

Re: What horror game are you playing?
I played through the first Penumbra a long time ago, I remember thinking it was decent. The sequel Black Plague is supposed to be a lot better, I don't know. I think I remember reading the third game was Portal influenced.
Anyway, about Xbox horror games. Pretty sure we talked about that before, but I can't honestly remember what all was said. So here are some Xbox horror games I do recommend:
I'll have to defer to Ack as to whether this is any good or not:
If anybody is looking to play some unique horror games on PC:

As for the last one it consists of three games. The only one I played through was Dracula Resurrection. I loved Resurrection, and I don't even care about vampires. It was just a fantastically designed adventure game that was plenty spooky and plenty fun.

PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: What horror game are you playing?
How many horror games can you name with mummies?
Exactly. Play Curse.
A personal addendum to Exhum's list: the Dracula series is actually 5 parts, though all five can be acquired on GOG(in fact 4 and 5 are advertised on the side if you follow his link to the Trilogy).
Also, while Scratches is pretty good, absolutely play it via a downloadable service. I owned a physical copy for years, and it was effectively unplayable in every computer I tried it on. GOG put it out in 2011, and I nabbed it and got through it that way. Unfortunately GOG has since lost it, so I'm not sure the best way to track it down now.
If you're looking at GOG, also definitely check out Clive Barker's Undying and Nosferatu: Wrath of Malachi. I have some issue with Nos running on my box due to resolution problems, but they combine horror and FPS gameplay long before F.E.A.R. got into the mix.
And yeah, the third Penumbra game is effectively a physics puzzle game. I also think the second one is the best, though I liked the whole trilogy when I played it.

I picked this up a week or two ago in a PSN sale. Hopefully get to it soon, though was debating holding off until October...

Oh my shit, SOMA is pretty great.
Here's what I had to say about it after I finished it.
Re: What horror game are you playing?
Ohhhh, I have awaited the day we would start seeing "retro PS1" styled games in the works!
