Share your Quake Live names!

Post by Mozgus »

So Quake Live has been getting a steady stream of updates since it went open beta, and I think it's a very solid and fun experience now. It should only continue to get better. Let's start a fresh thread and make an organized list of names.

For those who don't know, this is basically Quake 3 Arena + Team Arena, with very in-depth, universal stat tracking, matchmaking and various other community features. The entire thing runs inside your web browser, and can run in full screen. You download and install the small browser plugin, and the game will download the maps and content in the background without your knowing. It will be free forever, and has mild advertisements. More info here.

Until they add some kind of guild/clan functionality, we must share our names manually. Add everyone to your friends list in the web site. It's all pretty simple to do. Let's get fraggin'.

Of course, I'm Mozgus there.

I played Q3A to death when it came out years ago, but am now finding it difficult to get the hang of QL with a laptop touchpad instead of a keyboard/mouse. Nonetheless, it's lots of fun!

If anyone wants to integrate quake live into steam, so it shows your steam friends when you're playing, and gives you full steam overlay support in quake live, here's the method I came up with. Changing the icon is obviously optional, and I cant seem to disable that annoying shortcut arrow on the icon. I disabled them in Vista itself, but Steam still uses it.

I haven't had a chance to try this before now, I had no idea it had so many social features.
Good memories though. When I was in high school, my friends and I used to play quake 3 a lot. A LOT.
