Kind of surreal seeing Jirard talking so unnaturally as he is clearly saying what he was told to by his lawyers

He's still in hot water. His reputation is dead now.

So, I read an article today that suggests that, while there are indeed some issues, that the whole "charity fraud" accusation may be a case of people investigating an area in which they lack adequate understanding (and for which they did not consult an expert).

No way!!!! Internet randos are always the experts?! And, you can’t always develop a deep understanding of a subject by googling stuff?! Unbelievable!

You don't have to be so restrained. Why don't you tell me how you really feel? ;)

Fair. The articles title starts with improper article usage (“A Incomplete Picture”…c’mon, man…proofread!); so, I think you have to take it with a grain of salt, too.

I don’t think you have to be an expert to say that some issues of the law require an expert to properly navigate.

I don't think whether this constitutes fraud or anything criminal with change the feelings of the people that donated money.

I think the author of the article makes some good points, but my only issue is they spend a great deal of time implying that those who who accused The Completionist and his family's charity of fraud etc lack understanding and context of how the non-profit sector works and that there were assumptions/inaccuracies on their part, but then didn't go into detail of what they are (or could be).

They are right though; they really should have consulted a legal expert or someone who understands the law in that area.
