A lot of early CD consoles don't have copy protection, so you can just burn a copy of the patched game to a CD-R for those systems.

Appreciate the info prfsnl and Elkin! It's something I've been interested in getting into, to play a few games that have been translated more recently.

emwearz 2023 Pickups - Running Total: $51.94 AUD / $35.70USD
Call of Duty 2: The Big Red One (PS2) - $4AUD / $2.75USD
One Piece Ultimate World Red (PS3) - $5AUD / $3.50USD
One Piece: Pirate Warriors (PS3) - $5AUD / $3.50USD
Lego Avengers (PS4) - $5AUD / $3.50USD
Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy (PSP) - $18 / $12.50USD
This Is the Police 2 (XB1) - $4.20AUD / $2.90USD
Lost Sphere (PS4) - $10.74AUD / $7.40USD

This Is the Police 2 (XB1) - $4.20AUD / $2.90USD inc Postage via Ebay
I now have both and have played 30 seconds of the first, but for the price I had to grab it as overall the concept of both the original and the sequel I find appealing, as someone who enjoyed Police Quest.....a bit, back in the day.

Lost Sphere (PS4) - $10.74AUD / $7.40USD inc Postage via Ebay
I played this when it first came out on Switch and never finished it, as the game held its value for a minute I traded it for close to what I paid, so happy I have it again and got my 60 bucks back in between. The game itself is nothing amazing but a solid little RPG with a fairly basic story, worth a tenner though.

Markies' Games Acquired List Of 2023!

1. Roadkill (PS2)
2. Riviera: The Promised Land (GBA)

3. Quackshot (GEN)
4. Kid Icarus: Of Myths And Monsters (GBC)
5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fall Of The Foot Clan (GBC)
6. X-Men Mutant Apocalypse (SNES)
7. Silhouette Mirage (PS1)
8. Dark Cloud (PS2)
9. Rogue Galaxy (PS2)
10. Jade Empire: Limited Edition (XBOX)

12. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (PS3)
13. Resident Evil 4 (Wii)
14. DuckTales Remastered (WiiU)
15. Octopath Traveler (NS)

So, the local convention that I go to in August usually has a much smaller one in February. However, last year it was cancelled at the last second and it didn't happen again this year. I was a little bummed about that, so to make up for it, I decided to have my own little convention. I took off on Friday and drove to three local retro game stores and bought 13 games! I was very excited with all of my selections and happy with each of them. However, I did have some highlights:

- Silhouette Mirage (When I saw this game last time, it was a bit more expensive, so I was surprised to see how more affordable it had gotten. Because of that, I really couldn't have passed it up.)
- Dark Cloud (I had been looking for this game for years and I finally found a copy for my own.)
- Jade Empire: Limited Edition (Same as Dark Cloud. I did an audible gasp when I found it and was probably my pick of the haul.)
- DuckTales Remastered (Very happy and excited to have this one as well.)

Awesome pick-ups, Markies! Some games mentioned that I've been interested in too, mostly X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse and Silhouette Mirage. I've missed out on Mutant Apocalypse, but it seems like a fun one. Quackshot is also a fun one! I haven't finished it yet, but enjoyed what I've played.

Looking forward to your thoughts on these games!

Even though it's a PS+ freebie I'd like to name drop Evil Dead: The Game. It's fucking awesome and I can't wait for when the Switch port hits.

February update time:

Demon Turf Switch
Wonder Boy Anniversary Collection Switch
Cannon Dancer - Osman Switch
Total: 6 games

February:
Gunpey WS
XI Little WSC
Mr. Driller WSC
Buffer's Evolution WS
Magical Drop for Wonderswan WS
Rockman & Forte: Mirai kara no Chōsensha WS

I did one big gaming purchase this month - someone on a discord group I'm on (for Retro Game Squad, great podcast if you've never listened to it!) was selling off their Wonderswan collection and I jumped on a few of them to expand out my meagre collection for the console. I think I have a lot of the definitive releases now (at least the ones that are playable in English!). I've had my Wonderswan Color a good few years now so it's nice to finally invest in the library a bit!

Awesome to see some Wonderswan games in the thread! My buddy used to have one in the early 2000s, but otherwise I don't have much experience with it.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts on the games, AJ.
