Games Acquired 2023
Re: Games Acquired 2023
...it looks like everyone made some pretty solid additions. On top of February being a short month, being sick for a week plus still trying to figure out a new gig meant it was a mail order month. I think that it was pretty decent overall though. I put off Live A Live long enough that it's become hard to find in stores, so picking that up was a must. It was sort of the same thing w/Cannon Dancer as I watched the stock get lower and lower. I also found some decent deals on Disco Elysium, Star Ocean, and Them's Fighting Herds. Redout and 8Doors from friends who also enjoyed F-Zero and like a nice Metroidvania. So far, I've only tried out Them's Fighting Herds and it's pretty fun. I've been into fighters since, well SFII and the gameplay here is tight w/very enjoyable mechanics. I think the roster is painfully small though so that kind of sucks, the story mode is also kind of annoying, but who buys a fighting game for that? Anyways, I'm hoping I can actually make it out to shops this month actually find some classic stuff for the collection.

Nice pick-ups, Syndicate! I'm really interested in playing Live-A-Live as well. Disco Elysium has been praised from a few members of the forum, so that's piqued my interest. Enjoy the games!

Re: Games Acquired 2023
A bit late, but I wanted to share my March pick-ups! Had an awesome month of finds, and came across a few items I've been hunting for quite a while.
Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete (PS1) - After finally tracking down the first game in this series, I wanted to try to find the second. I had seen it at a local game shop last year and passed on it, which I regretted. However, I did manage to find a local seller with a copy. The box is a little dinged up, but the discs and OST are in great shape. I read some reviews that this game is better than the first and looking forward to running through both titles!
Pocky & Rocky (SNES) - This game is a grail for me, I was looking for it for years. A local shop got it in stock a few weeks ago, but I felt like I couldn't grab it at that time. However, when I returned more recently, it was still available. Hard to tell from the pic, but the cart has a deep scratch and the bottom of the label is coming up a bit, but overall it's in good shape. This is such a fun game! It's quite tough, but it's one you want to keep trying.
Champions of Norrath (PS2) - As mentioned last month, I'm trying to grab a few more co-op action RPGs for my partner and I to play through. I heard good things about CoN, and it was developed by Snowblind Studios who were behind the first Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. I think we'll have a fun time going through this one!
Shredder's Revenge (Switch) - Another title I had wanted since it was released, but I held off because it seemed tough to find a physical copy in my area. Well, Flake had a copy for sale so I snatched it up. My partner and I played through the game already and it was a ton of fun. I'm pretty sure we'll be revisiting this one quite a bit. Thanks, Flake!
The Friends of Ringo Ishikawa (Switch) - Flake had mentioned there was an extra goodie in the package he sent, but I was not expecting a second game! That was a super nice gesture, and I really appreciate it. I'm a huge fan of 2D beat 'em ups, so I'm looking forward to checking this one out as well. I wasn't familiar with it beforehand, but It looks to be in a similar style as the River City games, which are some of my favorites in the genre. Thanks again, Flake!
