Satori Iwata of HAL was pretty interested in western PCs and the 6502. That’s why Nintendo often contracted him from HAL to pinch hit.

I also picked up tanuki justice, wallachia, and golden force on switch last night

Crap! Wish I hadn’t missed that. River City Girls and Curse of the Moon are high on my list.

For me-

January 2021

Langrisser 1&2- Switch
Astral Chain- Switch
Deus X Machina- Switch

They were sold out in seconds so it was very hard to pick up a copy, I got extremely lucky and read dozens of stories about people having the items in their cart only to have them removed at check out.

Langirsser 1 and 2 is a fantastic game, I played 1 this month, definitely play it when you can.

Yeah I have a copy of Star Battle, programmed by Iwata, which is basically a Galaxian knock-off. It's aight.

2021 Game Pick-ups:

1. Shining in the Darkness (GEN)
2. Golden Axe II (GEN)
3. Toejam & Earl (GEN)
4. Alien Storm (GEN)
5. Rayman Origins (360)
6. Castle of Illusion (GEN)
7. World of Illusion (GEN)
8. Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest (SNES)

January's my birthday month, so I treated myself to a good amount of games. Finally picked up Shining in the Darkness, as I've been having a lot of fun with it's successor on the Saturn. Got a few more Genesis beat 'em ups and co-op games as well. Also picked up Rayman Origins and the Mickey games to participate in January and February TR.

And lastly, grabbed FF: Mystic Quest -- this was a game I almost grabbed in January 1993. My father took me to a Software Etc. in Yonkers, NY to pick out a game for my birthday. I remember I was deciding between FF: Mystic Quest and Super Double Dragon, simply based on the cover art for each, which looked awesome to me at that time. I ended up going with Super Double Dragon that day. So, I'll finally get a chance to play the other game I was considering.

...I think that I'm in a bit of a classic game drought of sorts, I haven't been able to find any classic Sega (SMS -> Saturn) or Nintendo (NGC) stuff for a minute now. I think my January additions are solid though.

Picked up life force on the nes, super excited to own one of my all time favorite schmups. Outside of that this week I preordered Spinch on switch and bought children of zordiac on switch.

Waiting for ghostrunner and project warlock to arrive, can't wait to play both of them but they are both imports so it may be another week or so.
