Well that's just annoying. Been collecting since 1982, now doesn't care about any of it? Maybe it's my shitty mood this week, but now it looks more like "dug a deep financial hole, decided to get far enough to win, get publicity, then dump everything while the hype is there". :|

Hot damn, I couldn't even part with my measly collection.
I wonder how much the price will fetch? $10,000? $20,000? If that it would only be a couple of dollars per game still.

11 days isn't very long to give someone to decide if this is worth taking out a second mortgage for.

no, i'm in agreement with you, hobie. watching the video and looking over the pictures and reading the description all yielded the same response from me: "what a stupid asshole."

I wonder if he will get any serious bids... Even if I had a ton of money for this, I wouldn't bid on it because I don't want the responsibility of owning that many games, especially all at once.

This guy is a moron though... I'm pretty sure this was his plan all along.

It is hard not to be cynical about this.

I am, however, surprised that he has not completed his collections for many, many systems. I would hate to spend $30,000 on this and realize that I still needed Space Vultures and Grand Slam Tennis to complete my Arcadia 2001 collection.

meh. Who cares if or why he's selling. Hobbies change or money is needed for other things - sometimes in a hurry, or sometimes you just want to be out completely.

Obviously he could get a ton more if he split it by library or what not, the number of people who can afford, but perhaps more importantly want to house that many games is a very very very very very very very limited number.

Yeah, totally his business. Just odd that just last fall it was all "I'm a winnar!" and now it is more or less "buy my stuff and hose me on all the money I spent on it" because he's not going to get anything near what he spent on all the games if his reserve isn't ridiculous, much less including shipping and time spent. Sure priorities and hobbies can change, just awful soon after bothering for the record stuff which I believe you have to pay them to spend the time coming to verify stuff with you as well.

Also bullshit exclaiming "The STARTING BID is ONLY a SINGLE DOLLAR! Anyone can get in on the EXCITEMENT!" when there's a reserve means that no, no you can't really. I don't expect this to sell. Maybe it will be rerun a few times, fail to reach reserve, then just stay where it is after wasting everyone's time.
