I'm hoping to eventually visit most of the best remaining arcades in the world.
Which ones have you been to that you think are some of the best there are?
Not just size, but quality of games and upkeep.
My nominations (that I have visited) are
- Santa Cruz Casino Arcade (Santa Cruz, CA)
- Pinball Pete's (Ann Arbor, MI)
- Cedar Point Arcade (Sandusky, OH)
Nominate the Best of the Remaining Arcades!

Fun Spot in NH. My wife and I went their on our honeymoon in 2006. And you'll more likely know it from King of Kong. That place is amazing. Actually Racket, the cabs we played at PAX East were all on loan from Fun Spot!

It's not an oldschool arcade, but Baby Castles in New York is doing some interesting things by displaying custom made arcade cabinets installed with indie games as art exhibits in a club-like atmosphere.
Every year in Seattle we have the NW Pinball and Arcade Game Expo where a bunch of collectors put their machines together and create a temporary arcade that feels like a timewarp to the 80s.

I knew that, but I haven't been there yet

Arcade UFO in Austin, TX. I just moved from Austin, and it's one of the things I miss most. It's a Japanese-style arcade with a great fighting game community. Check out their website for the games they have. I completely recommend it.

Richie Knucklez in Flemington, NJ. It's mostly really old school (pre-1985 in most cases) and while it's probably not as big as Funspot (I've never been), there's still a decent selection of stuff. $10 for unlimited play on weekend nights is a blast.
Also, 8 on the Break in Dunellan, NJ. It focuses more on fighting and rhythm games and only a bit on the classic stuff, but it's one of the few surviving neighborhood arcades.
Drop me a line if you're in the NJ area and I'll show you around!

Star Worlds Arcade in DeKalb, IL.
I've worked with the owner, Patrick O'Malley, and his partner, Glenn Thomas, extensively over the past three months, and I can tell you this: they've kept the spirit of '80s arcades alive, and if something is broken, they fix it immediately. The arcade itself is small, but jampacked with over 30 games, from an Asteroids cocktail to a Crazy Taxi stand-up. They've kept the old feeling of a social arcade experience since it opened in 1985.
Oh yeah, they're also the only arcade on the Twin Galaxies International Registry of Historic Video Game & Pinball Arcades that is still in business (the other four are shut down).

Fun Spot isn't one of them?
