So I got a 360! (AKA: swift wins)
So I think I've convinced myself to finally get a 360 based almost entirely on the fact that most of current gen's shmups land there. So here's the thing, I don't really know what to look for as far as model (are the old fat ones that scary? Should I definitely aim for a slim?) And I'm not really too into the idea of paying $200 for a new console. So I'm seeing if anyone here is selling one. Obviously I'd be open to partial trades as well, though my trade list isn't up to date right now... but we can talk if anyone wants to PM me. Thanks!

Interested in paying $200 for a Japanese Xbox 360 slim? I'm guessing not, but I may have one available soon.noiseredux wrote:So I think I've convinced myself to finally get a 360 based almost entirely on the fact that most of current gen's shmups land there. As far as which model, I would go for a later fat model or a slim.

Just go with a slim. It'll last longer because it's better engineered (or so I hope? They had 5 years to build the damn thing)

Somewhere, in an alternate reality where Gameboy Player Land is alive and well, alternate-Noiseredux just started crying. And he doesn't know why.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

are the "later fat models" more reliable than the earlier ones? Which models are considered the "later" ones that I might be able to trust?ZenErik wrote: As far as which model, I would go for a later fat model or a slim.

If you get a Fat console make sure you get a Jasper , if not spend a few more bucks and get a slim.
Xenon: November 2005 Original release.
Zephyr: July 2007 Introduced HDMI port. Improved GPU heatsink.
Falcon: Late September 2007 Introduced 65 nm CPU. Power consumption lowered.
Opus : June 2008 Available as a replacement for Xenon motherboards which have been sent in to Microsoft repair centers.
Jasper :September 2008 Introduced 65 nm GPU. Introduced on-board flash based memory. Further reduced power consumption. (Trust)
Trinity (Valhalla):May 2010 Motherboard redesign used in the Xbox 360 S (not used in other console versions). Two versions; one with 4 GB on-board storage, one without. (Trust)
Corona :August 2011 No more HANA Chip; integrated into southbridge. PSU is 9.86A, down from 10.83A (Trust)

I believe every fat model is defective (although I could be wrong), you're going to want to go for a 360S (slim). No reason not to go with this model, really.
